They have to make a profit though. They don't always get the price they want for items and end up losing a lot of money on certain items (especially electronics) so they can't afford to pay you retail price. If you want that then sell it to someone else.

Electronics go down in price all the time though. They're worth much less as soon as you buy them, even when they're basically new.
