I'm not sure what to make of Chrono Tigger :s

Absolutely not, kind of my predicament in reviewing it, alot of people hold it in such high regard but personally I don't see what's so special that allows it to stand above the rest. I would describe it as Final Fantasy' autistic sibling, absolute genius in some respects yet not quite right in most others.

I tried it as well but couln't get into it... I only played it for a few hours though so it's still on my todo list to go and play more but its not high on that list. It might just be because I'm not big on that style of fantasy, couldn't get into FF9 either.

Thing is it is a good game, but I certainly would not rate it amongst the best of a golden era. My main issue is a lack of character development, it leaves me as the player feeling very uninvolved with what's going on in the game. The ability to always change your party is great especially with the brilliant dual/triple tech, but at key points in the game where you would expect to have the full cast present, you only have the characters in your party, so if you change your setup alot you never gain any sense of momentum with the characters and their attachments to the story, as a result it leaves me feeling uninvolved and not caring about the characters. Many of them do not even seem to have any attachments to the story other than being there for convenience. That goes for the villains aswell, they are just kind of there, and nothing is really explained as to why they play that role.
