Imagine if you tried to tell someone you don't agree with the standard measure of time...and you were different than every other country...They'd call you looney. That's basically what the US is doing by not using Metric lmao.

We all learn English and one or more languages. I took 4 years of Spanish and 2 years of German.

In Germany it's English and either French or Latin on most schools. Starting at age 10-11~

I so wish they started teaching American kids another language starting at a young age. It's so frustrating to try and learn another language when you are already grown!

We learn English from age 7 then at 13 we get to choose between Spanish/German/French and then at 16ish you get to choose between continuing what you learned before or learning a new language. Most schools offer Spanish/German/French/Italian but some offer others, like Mandarin or Japanese. We continue with English for as long as we're in school too.

We 'learn' French here. The classes are mostly useless unless you're in French immersion.

I wish we had options like that here :| I chose Latin and it was just terrible.. lol

I'm saying with how connected the world is now a days you have to.
The world is far different now than it was even 100 years ago. You can get anywhere within a day. Messages transfer instantly. At some point measures need to be universal and you'd be foolish to see that any other way. You should try not being so stubborn and accept that the system used in America is a dumb hand-me-down system that we inherited from England.
Edit:
While on this subject I'll bring about a great point. Notice how many people in the world use English as though it has become the universal language of business? That is the rest of the world is with measurements too. Except we're the idiot country who can't fall in line

You should learn that insulting someone or the things they use are accustomed does actually nothing to convince people to side with you yet leads more to them siding against you...

But go ahead. Please give a valid argument explaining why the Imperial System is so superior.

Because a language is the same as a unit of measurement? Lol.

In some ways, actually, yes.. Language follows a set of rules, so do measurements.

Please give a valid argument explaining why the Imperial System is so superior. Personally, I don't think most of the world takes the time to worry about if I'm being stubborn about this but I would be flattered ^^... Why should we change something if we don't want to? It's not causing a global meltdown... I've never really heard much of an argument against it other then more people outside of the states use it and therefore Americans should use it too because that would make it so we all use the same stuff! Honestly until it or if it ever becomes an real issue then I don't see a need to change the system of measurement here in the states... I mean its not like its outlawed to use the metric system here... simple conversion tables are readily available...

No where outside of the US is the a major in worthless measurements.
So in a ratio...the number of people outside Imperial System using countries who understand Imperial system would probably be less than the number of people outside of Sweden who speak Swedish. At one point Sweden had dominate control over Northern Europe and thus a majority of Finland is fluent in Swedish.

Norwegian schools used to teach in Swedish and we used to teach in Norwegian in Norwegian/Swedish class. It was so that we would be more fluent in our neighbouring country's language.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
