My last dog went to sleep today. He was with me almost every hour of every day for the last 14 years, turning around and not seeing him right next to me feels wrong. when i started feeling better is when he started to decline. i think he waited for me to be ok before he let go

Three years ago my maltese (draylo, :/) I grew up with passed due to diabetes/skin cancer combo. Now our lab is 13 and has diabetes and went blind and is really declining. Sucks to lose them, best buddies. Valefor.Prothescar said: » My last dog went to sleep today. Another one was ran over by dads car by accident. The fourth one went missing, supposely. I didnt have any dog for the last 10 or 15 years.
During pamdemic i had a lot of time and opportunity to better think about life and death. Eventually i accepted a little of religion in my life because its a lie saying “science” is to be believed. No. Current science can barely scratch the most basic problems human have. The lack of a “cientific” answer lead to looking an answer in God. And that answer is that life shouldnt be measure by human metrics. That metric cant answer why some people dies, some people lives, some people suffer while others are happy. The universe metric, on the other side, see an entire life as a blink. The life of a mosquito that just a couple of day is the same of a humans, that can last around 60~70 years. Despite such discrepancy in time, both lives fulfilled their destinies. They lived the times allowed for then to live. There is no need to feel sadness or fear of death because to the eyes of universe, its all the same. For the living in face of a dear one departed, instead the sorrow of death, the happy memories of its life. And the gratitude to the universe to allow such beautiful life to cross our life. Its also the mildest winters in the entire great white north.
My dogs tend to last till they are 13. Buried one last Sept, adopted a new (ok, used) dog this week. Garuda.Chanti said: » Its also the mildest winters in the entire great white north. Winnipeg goes from +40 summers to -40 winters. BC and the Maritimes are +20 to -20. Same with Iceland. One of the reasons I kinda want to move there lol middle task bar is more comfortable on ultrawide
dog-wise, i cant go long without having a puppy around so I'm looking at her: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/misty-54921191/sc/gilbert/carolina-german-shepherd-rescue-sc425/ also considering these two: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/alti-54892591/sc/wedgefield/for-belles-sake-rescue-rehabilitation-sc416/ https://www.petfinder.com/dog/alfie-54909883/sc/gilbert/carolina-german-shepherd-rescue-sc425/ To me, Cristiano Ronaldo will be forever the best.

Garuda.Chanti said: » Valefor.Prothescar said: » dog-wise, i cant go long without having a puppy around Didn't want a puppy. I like dogs in principle, but I really don't want to own one. If I were to take that plunge, however, I wouldn't go for a puppy either. I've seen a fair number of dog owners get more than they bargained for when that cute ball of fur suddenly gets big, noisy, and/or destructive. At least when you purchase an adult dog you have a better idea of what you're getting. it's a good thing to give a shelter dog a new home but the downside is misbehaviour caused by lack of knowledge or poor care of the previous owner can be difficult to correct later on.
trauma caused by mistreatment is sometimes not obvious and can cause a dog to lash out unexpectedly under certain unpredictable conditions. something to keep in mind, especially if you have small children in your household. Holy hell, I just started up chocobo racing and my god. How could they do so wrong with something so easy.
