Some of these 3d prints and paints are just incredible, i wish i had the patience to try it. I wish they would do another Silent Hill game. Its been ages.

Don't you love looking at plans where all people did was cram as much stuff as they could into the layout shape, without thinking of any kind of spacing for them, or such trivial things such as "head space" when they randomly plop the stairs down in an obscure corner like "da basement go here!"

I spent a whole work-week making compromises, especially because the building code used in the USA is completely bonkers and the engineer is practically turning the house into a bomb shelter lol

This house has been bad for that. Unusually, the framer wanted all of the floor trusses staggered over interior bearing walls to give more wiggle room than normal. But to avoid plumbing holes and drag trusses, and to plop in a bunch of engineered sidewall blocking panels, it was almost impossible to line everything up.

When I used to do that stuff, you'd see all sorts of crazy things. But I was only doing stairs. The best phone call I ever got was from a very very angry framer "What the *^( is wrong with all your materials for this job?! I've had to cut everything down and your stairs are too high now too!" I let him rant and swear away while I pulled out the plan "You realise that model is a 9 foot basement, right?" *long pause followed by much swearing* Needless to say the guy had to cut entirely new POs to re-order most of the basement stuff that he had already gone ahead and cut to 8'. Rather than look at a plan, he just auto assumed yet another cookie-cutter house...

Thankfully it didn't happen to me, but one of the worst experiences I heard of was an ex-coworker of mine designed a roof and got it approved. After the trusses were built, it was discovered that there was a new set of drawings. Every truss was off by about 6 inches, so they were thrown in the garbage and the designer had to do it all over again. Got it approved, built, shipped to site. Turns out they poured the concrete and built the walls according to the original plans. So they had to scrap those trusses also. Built the first set of trusses again...

I haven't been around that since '09. But after the huge boom out here in 2007, things sorta crashed for a bit. But that was also a scary time since so many fly by night builders popped up who probably couldn't even spell "hammer" let alone use one properly.
