Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
Swordfish tonight.
En garde!! Awhile back, China started allowing police officers to carry a side arm on patrol. But it's special.. it's a six round revolver, chained to the belt, carried in a strapped holster, and chambered in a proprietary 9mm rimmed cartridge which is only sold to police so if a criminal actually manages to claim the gun, he'll have to actually confront more police to reload it.
![]() ...and I really, really want one. Like, one gun and a box of ammo and I'd let Jamison figure out how I'm gonna keep shooting it. Anna Ruthven said: » proprietary 9mm rimmed cartridge Read that wrong at first, I think, and thought it was a rimfire 9mm cartridge, and that would have been even weirder. Edit: Also, that looks like a toy. Candlejack said: » Jesus. Those kooky Chinese could've just stopped at the proprietary rounds. Chaining the guns to themselves is a bit overboard. Like those ID card lanyards some people clip to their scrubs and lab coats. Not a fan of rimfire rounds, steel, aluminum, or copper cases, or berdan primers. They all seem like such a waste. Boxer primed brass is recyclable.
I mean, I'm fine with rimfire .22 rounds.
I've never really owned or used a .17, so I can't say anything about those, but it seems like it would be okay for those, too. But it seems implausible for anything bigger anyhow. But it seems implausible for anything bigger anyhow. In addition to centerfire and rimfire, there was also pinfire (a round with a striking pin leading to an internal primer) and lipfire (think rimfire but with one quarter of the rim). The 1850's were a strange time. There were several types of cartridges made to bypass the Rollin White patent, *** remembering all of them. I'm familiar with pinfire. Haven't heard tell of lipfire.
I'm really more of a "casual interest" than dedicated enthusiast in the field though. Haven't been actively shooting for a lot of years and I was just a .22 plinker 90% of the time unless I was sighting in a hunting rifle. There are a crazy amount of antique guns with flopped cartridges because no one wanted, say... A .44 Merwin-Hulbert revolver when they could buy the same gun in .44 WCF and use the same ammo in their rifle.
That's what Colt was counting on with their first dedicated cartridge revolver in 1871~. "Everyone has a Henry, chamber it for .44 Henry." Then Winchester dropped the 1873 repeater. The "Peacemaker" could be had in .44 WCF too so, it kinda took off. I think the .45 version of the Colt being so popular was due to military adoption and surplus.

QUICK, EVERYONE GET HIM! /getsashovelshotgun I'd say it's the best fish. And also easy to get into if you're not a big fan of fish in general, because it's a delicate taste. Plus no small dagger-like bones!
I like salmon. There are a few places here that sell swordfish steaks but not like, whole sides of swordfish.
I like salmon too, but that's definetely not for everyone imo. Strong taste.

I'm a fan of tilapia no matter how many granola munchers tell me it's not a good fish to be eating. Also sea bass, catfish. One of the victims of my recent power outage was almost two pounds of frozen flounder. Sort of angry about that one. Ramyrez said: » granola munchers Good job Ramy, I'll save you for last on my mass-executions. Might even let you help me as long as you don't try to kill me. No idea what a tilapia even is. Catfish's good. Bass..eh, so many bones I'm afraid I'd die eating it.
We batter our catfish here in cornmeal and fry it. Some of the US thinks it's weird apparently.
Don't worry Jos, you, along with the rest of Canada, will be the first to go.

And you're Oklahoman. Glad we got that straightened out.
