Since work stuff is winding down next month, I'm thinking about doing a play through of all the Souls games (excluding Demon's Souls that I beat). Though I do have a personal project I'm going to be starting possibly as soon as this weekend, and it has the potential to sap all of my free time.
Give Dark Souls 1 a try? It should be cheap and it's probably better than Demon's Souls (haven't tried that one myself)

I bought another Dreamcast around a year ago so Sav's kid could play Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. My original consoles were loaned to a work colleague (one was broken, he was going to try to fix it), and I didn't get them back before I moved a thousand miles away.

I would honestly go dark souls 1 -> bloodborne -> dark souls 3 so you stay consistent with quality and mechanics but yeah DS1 definitely the best place to start. DS 2 was not made by the same revolutionary guy that made DS1 DS3 and bloodborne.
Amazon doesn't have DS3 for digital download on XB1, so I went to Xbox's site. It mentioned that it comes with a DS1 (backwards compatible) download for digital pre-orders. I don't expect to get it, but I'm going to see if I end up with the code anyway since it was still listed on the purchase page. Would be nice.
