I remember camping Leaping Lizzy for days. I'd get him to pop, kill him and get a tail. Over and over I killed him and nothing was going; I even did it with a TH5 THF. I finally gave up and left LL to the noobs. Then one day I was running around on my RDM to show him off to a buddy of mine and took him around the area. As I did, I suddenly saw him in the corner of my eye. Figuring I'd just kill him out of spite, I ran up, tagged him with a Dia and killed him with my Joyeuse. When he dropped, the boots fell.

I thought it was funny that he was up just as I was riding through. I figure nowadays a lot of old NMs are probably just up since almost all of their gear is obsolete/overshadowed by the current state of the game.

It still didn't make me feel any less nostalgic as I killed him though. Rekindled all sorts of memories, I almost cried, and I laughed quite a bit. I'm such a sap lol.

Makes you yearn for the good ol' days, huh? It's been years since I've played 11. At this point, I know it wouldn't be the same game I left behind. It's funny how I can have a connection to a series of zeroes and ones, but that was a huge part of my life at one point - FFXI and college.

Maybe that's why I still visit this site - I'm holding on to a past I'll never experience again.
