Senkei is the skill he uses, it's the big sword circle thingy that slows his opponent each time he hits them. He'd only shown it once before since he's naturally super strong and never had to use it much.

Urahara seemed more clever than he did smart, and Aizen was his opposite - Smart, but wasn't really as clever as he led himself to believe he was.
An accident of his own making ended up being his downfall in the end.

Because Ginsei Yamamoto's Bankai would have turned him to ashes long before he could even try.

Pretty sure he hit his limit, that's why he was researching ways to overcome the limit (hougyouku)
Yamamoto's limit was just higher with his Bankai so he couldn't beat him fairly, hence all the trickery and Wonderweiss

Aizen had to merge with the Hougyouku before he could even put a scratch on the Head Captain as well. And all Yamamoto lost was his arm.
