I feel you though. Had some girl follow me around forever on my last char. She was a mess in rl... kinda why I lost interest and gave my old char away.
Turns out she was like 50 something married, with kids who played and hated her life. After that it was kinda hard to ditch her. I was like her only escape from rl.
No, not even married, that was the whole thing. The guy she lived with wouldn't even marry her after a long time.

This one was living with her boyfriend at the time, but she was planning on dumping him. She did and things got complicated because she was asking me to pay for pretty much everything under the sun when I was going to college and didn't have a job. She wigged out and the rest is pretty much history.
I still talk to her on rare occasions, but it's mostly quick little bursts. She got back together with that dude.

Graphics are fine to me. I'm not picky about looks. I prefer substance, etc. lol
It's like 1024x768 windowed mode. No 3rd party etc. Tried SE's full screen 1280x720, aspect ratio wasn't fixed. Funk that.

What aspect ratio is your monitor. Simply set your resolution to the highest one that matches your monitor's. Then set the background resolution to double what your other one is.
No sense in making your game look like it's on the PS2/SNES when it's capable of so much more. Unless you're on like a 10+ year old $500 Walmart PC, it can handle it.
And not for ascetic reasons purely.

I'll have to mess around with it some. Monitor is really a TV that can do 1920x1080 75hz, aspect ratio just says normal, other option is widescreen, lol. I'll have to mess around with it some. I only just tried ffxiconfig and it stretched everything with wide screen resolutions.

1920x1080 is 16:9 aspect ratio.. aka widescreen.
Once you set everything properly it will look better, you'll see more and it won't be stretched to hell. The main option you need to change as well will be in-game under one of the menus. There is an aspect ratio setting there for 4:3, 16:9, and 16:10. IIRC. Been a few years since I played.
