Yes, you have just saved your dog's life by not allowing him to be abandoned in the woods by idiots.
No, you can't just use any beagle you happen to find to hunt a mountain lion... if you expect the dog to live. They need to be trained and it takes years.
Those boys are none too bright Tell them your dogs have a medical condition and unfortunately can't go with them.
Then we only need to figure out how to encourage them to look for the mountain lion without any dogs because god help us we really want them to find one...
