Question about frenchfries. I know restaurants have big fryers to make them, but is there a way to make them as similar at home? I mean, when we make them here they always come out very crispy, like the chips from the bag -_- they're bleah..how do you make them softer? Or is it all in the quality used?(we always buy the frozen pre-made ones)

Just use a pot to fry them in and it should give you the same effect. Slap it on the stove, bring the setting to high and as I recall, the best oil for frying is peanut oil, but I think vegetable oil will give you the same effect. Well, unless you have lard, I suppose.
Also, are you just cutting the potatoes and cooking them straight, or do you dredge them in flour, first?

In short, make your own but less heat. Quality of the frozen fries depends on brand, how long they've been on ice and how much heat you give them. Most end up being ***though I love me some waffle fries out of a bag..... yes... come to me to delicious sources of unhealthy delight...

It's no big deal, but I really hate the 'can you leave my fries down a little longer' or the 'can you put no salt'(after we put salt on our freshly made batch of fries) people. Wasting food costs that is critical atm so people can *** other people from their fries. :c
