Random Thoughts.....What Are You Thinking?

So! The downstairs assembly (that's me) makes our own stuff, but we also do prep work for upstairs assembly. When they need stuff prepped, they come down and write on our whiteboard what they need. They are not allowed to write things down that they need that same day, because we won't have time to put a rush on it and still get our stuff done. (We struggle to get our stuff done along with theirs to begin with, we need more people. But anyways.)

So Friday I went into work, took a gander at the whiteboard, saw nothing, and made my circuit boards all day. The boys intentionally got CCL going on religion just so they could argue and annoy her (they say that if they beat her in a couple debates, she'll shut up about it and stop bringing it up everyday. Actually, they beat her in debates and then she comes and whines to me about it. >.>) I told CCL that religion wasn't appropriate to talk about at work when the boys went on break, then went CCL went on break I scolded the boys for getting her going and egging her on. They think it's just hilarious. Haha, so super funny. ._.

Then about half an hour before we were supposed to go home, the upstairs boss came down and said he needed 30 of the upstairs circuit boards done for Monday. Ok... technically he didn't wait until Monday to tell us, so it was legal. The thing is, these boards take awhile to put together, then have to be dipped in conformal coating and left to dry for at least a few hours, then have gaskets added to them, then have KK crimps and housings attached to the end. In other words, they take forever. If you tell us at 9 am that you need 30 of them, you might have them before you go home. Maybe. IF they dry quickly. IF we don't mess anything up (like putting the wrong wires in or losing a board somewhere.)

So we all went on a mad dash scramble to get the boards done up, hoping that if they were done in time to coat that night, they could dry over the weekend. Yeah, we didn't get them done in time to coat that night. Oops. Yay Friday!

I had a dentist appointment at zero-dark-thirty on Saturday morning. Ok, it was closer to 9 in the morning, but close enough. The dentist cheerfully told me that I had 11 cavities, all of them were along my gum lines which means that I probably drink soda or juice, and that if I don't want all my teeth to rot out of my mouth I must stop drinking soda or juice. (But but but I have half a case of root beer in the fridge with kahlua to go with them!) Long story short: No more soda. Ever. Then he said that one of my previous dentists had improperly put in a cavity filling and that as a result the cavity was actually going all the way around the filling, and they have to drill out about 3/4s of the tooth to get the filling and the entire cavity out, then plug the whole hole with a nice fake tooth. And if they fail or something goes wrong, I get to have my first root canal. YAY.

I went to work this morning and was immediately reminded about the upstairs assembly circuit board panic. OHGOSH BOARDS. We finished putting them together, I coated them. Then I went upstairs to make flat cables, and I ran into the upstairs boss who asked about the boards. I told them they had been dipped in coating and were drying. He went downstairs and got them. Wet. D: Conformal coating for everyone! It smells like super strong nail polish remover, and the smell just permeates entire rooms. If you pull it out before it dries, everywhere the boards go reek of nail polish remover and leave coating all over everything they touch. He brought them upstairs, waved them around a bit until upstairs smelled bad, realized that they didn't have gaskets or crimps on them yet, and took them downstairs to the downstairs assembly. Yes, still wet. I went to lunch.

I came back from lunch. One of the guys had put gaskets on those darn boards. Genuine yay! So I went to get started on the crimping. Well, the thing with KK crimps is, they have to have a very short length of wire stripped, and the wire can't be tinned. This is explained in the SOP. Well, it turns out that CCL had prepped the wires, she'd looked over the SOP and decided that it was wrong, so she set the machine to strip as much as she darn well pleased off the ends (which means we have to go through and cut every single wire end) and she randomly tinned some of them (which can't be undone, so we have to cut that whole tinned part off and manually re-strip it.) The boys were mad that the wires hadn't been prepped correctly, so they set them on CCL's desk to make her fix them. She broke them, she has to fix them! Ok, nice and all, except that upstairs assembly needed the boards today and CCL doesn't work on Mondays so she can't fix them today. I got about 4-5 done, then had to leave for an optometrist appointment.

So! I headed to the optometrist. Her office is in the mall, which is a million years away from us. So it took about half an hour to get there, not a biggie. (Yet.) The optometrist examined me, said my prescription was outdated, dilated my eyes, said I have early signs of macular degeneration in the form of sun deposit spots behind my eyes, which means probable early blindness. >< Yay-friggin-ay. Then I had to wander around the mall with idiotic-looking optometrist sunglasses on because my eyes were dilated, and couldn't drive home because my eyes were dilated, and I would be stranded at the mall for four hours til the dilation went down. NOOOO!

I went shopping. Got some killer sales! Boots for half price! Aw yeah!

But seriously, I was stranded at the mall for over an hour until my man could get off work and get a ride out there to drive me home. (NOW the half-hour drive is a problem. ;; I'm so sorry, coworker! I owe you a humongous plate of cookies and maybe some gas money!)

Then when my husband showed up, he was like "Well let's get your glasses fixed, since we're here!" So we went back to the optometrist and got really confused because it turns out she had accidentally used the wrong insurance. The girl who's insurance she charged had my same name (with one letter missing) and the same birthdate, but lived in Virginia somewhere and had a different social security number. Impostor! Sort of!

So after a rousing ten or fifteen minutes of me being confused out of my head and unable to see darn near anything, we got it figured out. But since my frames are a few years old and I have no idea where I got them (keep track of my past optometrists? Why never!) they couldn't use them. I had to pick a new pair of frames. ;; My poor frames! They've been my friend for so long! They fit my face and they understand that my eyebrows are crooked and they rest gently on my ears and they are comfy and they are pink! My poor pinkies!

My new uncomfy unfriendly frames will be here in a few weeks. ._.
