-Beating CoP in FFXI

-The Sora vs Roxas fight in KH2FM+. It was just so fantastic and the music is awesome. Also getting 100% completion (Gummi ships too!) on FM+.

-Beating Emerald Weapon in FF7 (I was just a wee lad and was so proud of myself T.T)
Sora vs Roxas...a fight I could never do since FM never came to the UK.../sigh

It didn't come to the US either. I got the JP version and Swamp Magic so you can play games from other regions.

Two other boss intros that have really stuck with me. Something about the music and dialogue just mixes together really well and drew me in, sadly the first one was basicly just a story fight (super weak)

Which one was the one underwater?

I was definitely proud when I got that guy. I remember I only had 1 fully loaded Knights of the Round and 1 with one charge or whatever it was, can't remember now exactly how it worked. I just remember having to mimic it a lot. Took me like almost an hour, lol!

I don't think anything has ever come close in terms of memorable game moments to me as the entire game of Star Ocean 2... and even better... Second evolution the remake for PSP...

One of the best RPG ever made imo.

Beating "Star Tropics" for NES was no easy task as well. Especially the last few levels aboard the alien ship.

I remember wayyy back in the day even before most Aeris/th myths popped up, finally figured out the correlation between Materia equipped and it's ' super mega ' wth it was move..

Man I felt like an idiot afterward. lol

Thats how I did it. It seems so easy in retrospect lol. Every few months I fire the game up and try to beat Ruby but I still can't do it -.-

My greatest game moment was beating FF4 with my dad on SNES when I was 6.

Beating Ark Angels 18man BC.

Pulling off a clutch 5 vs 1 round in Counterstrike to win a ranked match.

getting past prommys in CoP because I never thought I'd get that far...

actually I never figured Id stick around enough to even hit 75 or finish any expansion period. CoP was waaaay too advanced for my little mini gamer self.

rdm AF, my first set!
obtaining sky was amazing (til my first god runs then I hate it)
first dynamis lord and first kirin and first absolute virtue (lol)
finishing CoP
leaping lizzie back in the day with the 23443 gil sellers and botters

good times

---other games--
Aeriths death
Summoning Simba in KH and losing to Sephiroth (I beat kurt ziza..couldnt do sephiroth)
Death of Lavitz in LoD
ff9 and x were just memorable in general
drowning in the sega genesis sonic games..the countdown scared me
the first boss in LoZ:ooT...giant spiders! and bongo bongo..ugg..actually carrying princess ruto around too

Another MGS one:

The part where Gray Fox dies. THAT SCENE KICKED SO MUCH ***

And REALITY LITERALLY FALLING APART AT THE END OF MGS2 WOAAHHHH

I'm glad Sonic Adventure was brought up though. That was one of my favorites, and raising the Chao was really special for me as a kid.

Honestly I think this game had the best story of any game I've ever played. Most of the time you can look at the start and middle of the game and have a fairly good idea where it will end. But without having it spoiled for you theres no way you can guess where that ***is going.

My main criticism with it which is more of a stylistic thing rather than a full-on criticism is that the scene where you escape from Styx and find out the full truth suddenly loses a lot of the tension, and the tension to that point was SO EXCITING.

While you do feel the same confusion that the characters feel, making it an effective storytelling device, I cannot help but think that I was basically pumped up to fight off gods at that point.

I guess I just liked that sudden "dazed and confused" feel. It really hit me in the face like a brick wall, and I'm weird and I like that kind of abuse.

Final Attack and Phoenix materia combo vs. Emerald, all the way. Didn't care about Materia Storm. And mastered double cut materia with Slash-All or Mega-all, forget which works with it.

Oh yeah, I both like and dislike it. It's one of the few games where I've turned it off, got into bed and been like "... WTF JUST HAPPENED"? Definitely thought-provoking and almost breathtaking.

I deffinetly digged that part too, it just worked so well as a tease because it gets you all excited then slows you down. Made the following build up that much better I found.

Ha you just reminded me of the Shinra Infiltration, you beat the boss, now you're making your escape. A short conversation with Tifa reveals Cloud has a plan and we've got to take this truck, but where the hell is Cloud?

Cue Cloud crashing out of the Shinra building on a motorcycle.

EDIT - video!

Yes :D and then you have the epic motorcycle chase and that scene just outside the Gates to Sector 5.

I have talked about this moment so many times but I still fail to properly capture the full enormity of it, at least to me. I think it was that moment which actually redefined my entire gaming life - they went from simply being entertainment to being a form of emotional, compelling media.

You've spent your entire game in Midgar, this dystopian city. You are oppressed and darkness shrouds everything. You've finally escaped this impregnable wall of despair with your companions - very fleshed out characters (except Red XIII who isn't really explored yet, being a new character). Your future is uncertain and your goals split. Walking away from the city, the sky brightens and this intense adventurous but somewhat sombre music track resonates around you.

You then realise the sheer magnitude of the world around you, and feel free - just as the characters feel free from Midgar's oppression.

I really think mindblowing was an understatement for that.
Well said.

FFIX

Final boss.

He uses that move that causes random status effects to everyone + damage.

Everyone's dead or petrified, but the move also triggered Zidane's Trance, breaking his petrification. Killed him in two Solution 9's (I think that was the number, can't remember atm).

If I did not have Trance I would've wiped xD It was something you'd see in anime.
