Well it would seem that I am in need to a new controller for My PC. My xbox 360 wireless receiver for Windows took a crap today. And I am unable to find or buy a new one. Maybe because Microsoft figured was not being used the way they wanted it or something. So am looking for a new decent priced controller. Any suggestions?

ninja edit: has to work with FFXI

I use a PS2 controller for FFXI/FFXIV. I've used the same adapter for ~5 years now (bought a second a couple years ago so I have two now). I'm actually using it right now with ePSXe to play Suikoden II >_>

You could get a cheap Madcatz 360 controller. I used to use one of them.. Now I use a wireless cheap "BigBen" PS3 controller with a little toggle for PC/PS3, cost me like 12 quid.. works perfectly.

If you already have a playstation 2 controller laying around somewhere,
http://www.amazon.com/PS2-USB-Dual-Controller-Adapter-Converter/dp/B000F6BGXY/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1296406870&sr=1-2

That goes into USB. ps2 controller goes into it. Play game.

4 bucks shipped if have amazon prime, 2 day shipping as well.

God How I detest that they made a wa controaller and called it Xbox controller for windows.. That's what one or 2 of my games i just purchased. I ALWAYS use and depend on logitech. For the two games i just bought, I just used some form of a Downloaded patch for my logitech that my games I just purchased, to make my gamepad " ACT LIKE " a Xbox for windows.."

Logitech is not bad.. but I never used Wireless... if you can find them.. Wired USB.... plug into your front.. Can't go wrong.

Most cpu shops should have them now.

Xbox is for Xbox.. Logitech is for windows...

...CPU world.. Keep it simple...</sigh><facepalm>

I'm currently using a Cyborg V3 Rumble Pad for my emus. It can be used for PS3 or PC. The back shoulder buttons are really...strange. They're like a cross between your standard shoulder buttons, and the triggers for the 360 controllers. The overall feel of the controller in your hands is like a PS3 controller. You can also take the analog stick/dpad module out and rotate it so that the analog stick is at the top like a 360 controller.

I've been through a lot of cheap Logitech, Saitek, and Alienware controllers. They took a lot of abuse and only lasted up to half a year when I played XI.

I avoid mad catz like the plague. 30 bucks seems nice, but that'll be about 30 bucks a year, up to twice a year.

Have a Ps3 controller?

www.motioninjoy.com/

Get a nice bluetooth adapter and you will be able to play without the usb wire... If not the usb adapter works just as well... not to mention it has a xbox360 controller mode for other Pc games.

I've been using it for almost a year now without any issues, but then again I haven't been using it as rigorously. I'm really biased because I hate Logitech (went through 3 controllers that crapped out after a month each) and I'm picky about the design of the controller. Those big 360 bricks make my hands hurt.

Well, I have no exp w/ their PC ***, but anything console related with madcatz has always ***out. I don't have one product that I've bought from then that still works to this day. It's the cheap way out and a quick fix, but always *** you in the end. Cheaper over time to get something of quality the first time around.

A used ps2 controller from amazon and the 4 dollar adapter would be cheaper and last a lot longer (yes even a used ps2 controller) than anything I've ever experienced from madcatz.

Were they the shitty store bought $14 kind or one of the higher-end controllers?

And yeah, an adapter's the cheapest (and probably the most reliable) route, especially since PS2 controllers are relatively cheap and last freaking forever.

Hasn't always been controllers but yes, the cheap versions. Not always their lowest price product, but nothing as high as the official thing. (If there was a madcatz gamecube controller for example for the same price as a nintendo gamecube controller, why the fk would I do that?).

Even things that don't rly get wear/tear like memory cards (actually bought a decent priced one cause of how many blocks it could save, like x4 official memory card) and even that thing ***out on me after a few months

Oh man, no, if it's the same price or even cheaper than the official thing it's not even worth it. I'm convinced that it's mainly their console exclusive products that are ***. I would never buy a third-party memory card either lol.

Not to worried about the rumble. usually turn it down of off anyways as only use it for ffxi on PC. Not really a big PC gamer. at least not until I convert this one I got to full on gaming PC after i build a server/workhorse pc for all my torrents and stuff.

I use a playstation emulator from time to time and it just doesn't feel right without the rumble.

otherwise it doesn't bother me lol.

I wish there were a way even with the windower (from what I've heard it doesn't have the feature) to when you run multiple instances of xi you could control 1 with 1 controller and another with another controller if you have 2 hooked up. (multiple screens) I'd so do it.

How well does it work with XI? The controller that is?

And yeah I wish I could do that as well. Would so be doing two different things at the same time with my two accounts. Most time I just set one to follow and just farm with the one and use other to sit there and collect the junk.

Just fine, just have to make sure to have the switch on the back of it set right otherwise the buttons will do crazy ***.

Yeah, I was looking for a way to multibox with my laptop, was going to go get a netbook to supplement it but it's out of my $ range, although it would be easier to carry around than a monitor :D

What about them? I have nothing to do with them if that's what you're asking. I just use the program.
