Very simple question: is there a cap on evasion you can stack from gear?

Thanks :>

It depends on each individual mob's accuracy. So yes, there is a cap, no it's not really that cut and dry.

Edit: Better explanation.

I think it's well established that their is a 95% accuracy cap, and it should come as no surprise that their is also an evasion cap. According to wiki, that cap is 80%. I personally thought it was higher than that, but I can't really say that it's wrong either.

The caps are completely based on the opponents accuracy which varies a ton by level. If a mob is fairly low level, capping evasion will be very easy so your build will be way overkill. Conversely, if the mob is about your level then you'll need about what you have if not more to cap out your evasion. However, at that point the mobs evasion to you will also be high. You can't win a fight by simply not dieing. You also need to kill the sucker.

There is no cap. Different mobs have different acc and of course on most lower level mobs you'll have a capped evade rate without even trying (80%).

On higher level mobs its still 80% just is harder to get there. If you can parse and your evade rate is 80% you know you are capped on what you are fighting.

If you cant parse try eying it up of course it wont be as accurate, but if the mob only hits you or one of your shadows 1/5 swings you are capped.

Don't feed the trolls....

The evasion directly related to the mob's accuracy and therefore it varies from mob to mob. The easiest and simplest answer is that Accuracy has a lower cap of 20% so if the mob is hitting you once out of every 5 hits, you're at the cap.

EDIT: Fixed... way too early in the morning today.

Actually a mob has a low cap of 20% accuracy, high of 95.

Like I said not perfect but its the best you can do on a console whort of having a friend parse your evasion for you.

Yeah, like I said it's useful but not exactly true. About as good as you'll get when you're eyeballing though.

You don't know yet?

I fulltime AF3 boots, Boxer's Mantle and 1 AGI Kila when tanking. There are few mobs that that amount of evasion is a problem on. I swap in more on low man and less when the monster needs to die.

Well generally, you'll want a mix of haste and some evasion. Doing damage is just as important as staying alive.

Here's something that is fairly decent for evasion tanking on THF. (Kila +2 Mainhand)

Max evasion if it feels necessary is an option too. Something like this:

Although I'm not sure of the efficiency of THF solo for seal NMs in abyssea, I would say that it's best to bring others for Yellow, with solo being a last resort.
