oh wow i dont come to these forums for a while and people are still bitching about wasting time and money on relics. really if you are pissed tell SE about it and give up this useless discussion on these forums. This is borderline full retard here.

delve weapons are here to stay, SE probably wont put money into really fixing the problem so deal with it or give me all your stuff when you quit. also I am not giving it back when you come back and try to get your characters restored.

This post probably would have had a better impact if you had actually posted it after somebody was bitching which was days if not weeks ago.

SE should bring the level 99 R/M/E up to par with delve weapon. Even if they have to use plasm to upgrade them and have ALL KI on delve T1-5 NMs. It is only fair to those people who took some time to make those weapons - why shat on their achievement and pissing those player off. This would also revitalize a lot of older contents again because R/M/E holders would want to get it to 99 - which means more people will shout for voidwatch and some may want to do Walk of Echoes (for those who wants to keep the WS to use with their delve weapon). It looks like update is coming in the late Fall or early next year. They still want a lot of people to buy SoA expansion...

I was in the process of building my Amano right when Adoulin came out and 99'd it a few weeks later. You know how long I used it for in total? About 4 days until I had enough plasm for an Ugui. Now it just sits in my Mog safe.

So yes, I would take back my 130mil and buy ALL KINDZZZZ of Airlixirs. I didn't get enough time to use it at all like other Relic holders who had one long before Adoulin came out. Neither was it something I had my eye on for years to obtain as a "dream" weapon, I was just kinda piling up money and said guess I'll invest it in something. Doesn't really bother me at all though.

I wish I would have saved my gil and invested it in the Insect Ball stock back in 2005.

Instead I spent my gil on a Haubergeon and a Scorpion Harness.

Insect Ball stock in 2005 was like Apple and Microsoft stock back in 1988.

Anyway, to answer the question: No. I knew what I was buying when I made Mjollnir!

You still have to magian the *** to 99 though. I assume they're not going to make people get Afterglow status to gain the benefit of the fabled "R/E/M" Update, but that sure would be funny for all the Empyrean users.

Always funny to read people post "haha I'm glad I didn't waste my money making a relic so that I could instead waste my money on airlixers." As if those weapons/armor wont themselves become obsolete in like a year max (not so pimp anymore with those rigors huh?). Either way you're wasting money anyway as almost nothing in this game retains its value for very long anymore.

It would be sort of hard for anything in this game to have retained its value for "very long" seeing as it's July and anything new came out at the end of April.

I don't know what you're trying to say here. If you're trying to imply that 3 months is a long time well I guess that depends on the perspective of the person as I myself don't consider three months very long at all. Otherwise if you mean that relics were atop until only recently maybe check out the word that came right after the part you just quoted.

What I mean is you said "Nothing retains value for very long anymore" and you don't actually have the information to make that statement have any value beyond blowing air (or in this case, moving fingers).

The developers have already said months ago that all future updates and the direction of the game itself will revolve around a gear treadmill model. What do you think that means? Was I supposed to also add a link to this quote in my post lol? Thought it was common knowledge by now but I guess not.

They have adopted a new content/item level system but that doesn't mean everything just loses value constantly.

They're still filling the gaps between 100 and 119. Do you think they're just going to jump the shark and release 130 in 3 months?

All you have to look at is the past and inflection point, so nothing you can say about the future has any validity because you have no idea what they plan on doing. What we do know is that Content Level 120 (Item level 119) is intended to be the top for the forseeable future.

To answer the question, yes I would. SE knew what they were doing and chose not to tell us while we continued to spend time and gil on a weapon that they knew would become obsolete.

All gear gets replaced but R/E/M was the exception, it was designed to be the top weapons and not to warn us was just fked up.

And lucky for everyone, they put the item level RIGHT ON THE ITEM so you don't even have to guess as to whether or not something is at risk of being outdated in the next few months.

When it comes to knowing exactly what the future content will bring you are as clueless as I and everyone else is (aside from any tidbit preview they may post) so to pretend to know exactly what's coming is just as ridiculous (unless they specifically made a post about lvl 120 stuff being the content for the forseeable future in which case I missed that and I'll acknowldege I'm wrong then). My whole point though was that compared to how the content used to be the current gear now will not last anywhere near as long as they used to before. I don't see how you can argue this when that is the whole point of doing the whole gear treadmill thing. To force people to keep working on the next best thing.

The price difference in a 99 relic and 3 Airlixirs +2 is about 120mil at this point lol.

Yes, they have said that 120 will remain the top for the foreseeable future. We don't - and aren't even close to - having a full set of 119 weapons. It is impossible to deck yourself completely at item level 119 even in "visible" slots and there's no visible "finish line" for that. We know what the drops from Delve Naakuals 4 & 5 will be, for example. Naakual 6 will be tied to a zone (Kamihr Piedmont) but the 7th is still "mysterious" as there appears to be no zone tied to it.

There's still a long way to go until there's even any reason for them to worry about future content levels.

That may be true but in this case you get what you pay for. Relics potentially have a much longer future if they keep upgrading the weapons (they haven't necessarily said they will but it remains a possibility). No such possibility exists for the delve weapons though.

Just let rem 99 unlock weapon skills plus aftermath. Em have all 40% bonus to weapon slills and aftermath. Give it as a key item when you trade weapon to npc.

Everyone wins. It is pointless to keep learned weapon skills locked though. Most people would be happy wiyh thus.

That being said no new scythe can compete with apoc so i have no regrets

If I could, I'd probably trade my mjollnir in. (as in, if they had some sort of "trade your relic in for coins" or "trade your relic for another relic" campaign or some such). I doubt the new version is gonna beat Sharur.

However, if I knew back then what I know now about current game content/items, I'd still make it. I made it purely for fun, and it certainly was fun the few years I had it and it was king.

I wouldnt trade any of my weapons in either my 85 arma.... still useful, aegis... still useful.... apoc still useful for its niche. Then theres rhongomiant I knew it was lackluster when I was making it but I wanted it ever since that first SS came out for empy weapons and almace which I still use as blu I use in old events and pld doesnt need a sword to hold mobs. In light of the new adjustments to ilvl weapons I would imagine they would be ilvl 118-12 and have that lovely skill+.
