Final Fantasy XIII-2
watching the livestream on ign atm, looks ok. Dont know if I want to run around as sarah for what looks like the entire game.
You can change between serah and noel at will
ya of course i ran around as noel.
thats not much of a consolation. only 2 playable characters and a chocobo =/
Shiva.Viciousss said: » thats not much of a consolation. only 2 playable characters and a chocobo =/ well ryan clements (who i am no fan of) gave it an 8, saying pretty much what I expected, the story sucks. It looks better than the original at least, if there is plenty of non-story related stuff to do I might pick it up this summer.
Having only 2 people + a monster in the party is what bugs me. The monster idea is nice and all, but if I wanted to play pokemon, I would...And I have no faith in Serah being a good character. I'm just confused on how the orginal got a 8.9 and this an 8 but this one is suppose to be better.
Because game ratings mean nothing unless it gets under a 6.
yeah dont try to compare game scores especially on IGN. People go to war on their boards about a number. The only thing I took from clements' review was that the story was bad and the game isn't as linear as the original. I look forward to player reviews I'm sure there will be plenty of people that love the story. If i pick up this game, it will have to be because of everything else, because I'm sure the story really is lackluster.
Dont judge a game based on ratings other people gave it. What really matters is what YOU think of it. What you think and what they think could be VASTLY different.
If the story interaction is anything like radiant historia it will be great
you should always judge a game for yourself, just like a movie, ive seen plenty of sites/people say 13 sucks, and seen others say it was good, and some ok.
Personally I thought it Sucked big time >_>. I wouldn't so quickly say video game reviews are useless or have no reflection on the quality of the game as a whole.
These are people who make a living analyzing games bit by bit, piece by piece and building a long line of quality standards that evolve over the years. Though no human is devoid of bias or opinion, which will ultimately reflect their score and comments, it doesn't mean they have no clue how a game should function, operate or demonstrate itself to the public. They're going to look at games in a light most others wouldn't even remotely consider or think about. However, in the end, a game's replay value and enjoyment is factored by you and you alone. Reviewers simply put a number on it to show how well composed and confident the game made itself. I like video reviews that actually explain why something is good/bad, like controls. If they give various examples why controls are bad, then it's obvious. Some things are opinion, like how good a story is. Some people like twists more, some like straight forward stories. That doesn't mean one is better than the other. Ones that twist too much get on my nerves, and I lose interest.
I agree that reviews should not be taken word for word, but some hold merit. Now if the person is simply ranting about everything, then they probably are just hatin' yo. A Final Fantasy Tactics game that explains what the heck happened between XII and the original please.
And no, the abortions that were FFTA and FFTA2 don't count. They had decent game-play, but ultimately didn't compare. Should've just had a different flag-ship title for them.

I do appreciate Square making a world that retains it's own name and identity both by region and character along with conflicts and wars therein. I too would like to see the world of Ivalice expanded upon and further explained, as it has a very rich and vast history and lore that was not thoroughly explained or brought up. TA and TA-2 were awesome as hell. Had more fun with those than the PS1 one .-.
yup TA2 was best one by far
tatics was guud, some of the game-play was simplistic compared to ta, but it certainly stands on its own as a solid title
just saw XIII-2 TV commercial... it had gameplay, i have NEVER seen SE actually put gameplay in their TV ads... /brainexplode
FFXIII is a steaming piece of excrement, and I have no doubt in my mind that FXIII-2 is going to be just as bad, if not worse.... I mean we all saw the downgrade from X to X-2, and X was actually decent- so just imagine what's going to happen when you make a sequel to a game that already sucks.
The creative well has run dry at SE, and now they just make games that look pretty, and play like sh*t... I would wipe my *** with my copy of FFXIII if I wasn't afraid the plastic might slice my butthole. Squaresoft, what happened?? You used to make so many good games... Now you're just a poop factory being tied down by a turd anchor named Enix. I apologize for the rant, but I just hate seeing what used to be my favorite video game franchise reduced to sub-par garbage! Also, stop putting apostrophes in EVERYTHING! I mean, really? Does the name of everything have to have an apostrophe in it? I think SE had an epiphany while making the FFXI expansion Chains of Promathia that if they just add an apostrophe to a bunch of a nonsense letters and syllables that they could completely forgo the process of actually having to put some effort into naming something... But I digress. Ragnarok.Azryel said: » All that ***

That is because Ivalice was conceived by Yasumi Matsuno, not Square Enix. He left because Square Enix represses creative integrity in favour of capitalism. That is why they are a publishing company foremost now, as can be seen by the fact they cater to their weeaboo fanbase by capitalizing on anime. The game took too long to take off and let the battle-mechanics really shine but it's an absolute awesome system. And if you can not understand what i mean then i don't honestly care anymore.
