Last night my FFXIV game started lagging really badly. When i tried to log out at this point my computer froze. when i turned my computer back on the screen turned white and would not respond when i tried to log into one of my characters. This has happened over a dozen times over a 24HR span. i have tried system restore error check uninstall/reinstall. SE support was not helpful at all. i have no clue what the problem is. anyone know of a solution?

My first suspect would be the graphics card. If you have a spare card, or can borrow one from a friends computer, switch them out and see if the problem persists, if not, then it's the graphics card and it needs to be replaced.

Some of the following could be culprits:

1. Graphics Card
2. Windows update reset some things to defaults (Internet Explorer settings)
3. PSU could be crapping out

Start with Slip's idea.

I used to have this error a lot in the beginning, and even last night as i forgot to set up my "AMD Overdrive" application with correct parameters. BTW i have an MSI 790 MoBo and ATI radeon 5,000's series Graphics card + AMD 970 BE 3.5GHz Cpu.

In my case I make sure the North Bridge speed is set one notch higher than the Hyper Transport sink. For my pc I usually set North Bridge "NB" at 2,000 or 2,200Mhz and the HP Sync at 1,800Mhz. This has greatly reduced my Freeze/Crash/Blue screen issues by 95%. Of course besides having the latest Graphics driver and ActiveX.

i have also tried a compatibility check with the program and i get the message FFXIVBOOT is incompatable. so im really doubting it is a problem with the graphics card. ffxiv is the only thing ive had a problem with. FFXI plays just fine. im just not sure

The game keeps crashing after I log out and hit "quit" ...

I can just hit ctrl atl del... and end the application, but it would be nice if it would stop crashing every time I quit the game. Any ideas?

If it means anything, I just got FFXIV yesterday. My current PC is nothing special;however, the game seems to run ok on decent settings; it just crashes every time I quit the game. I searched a bit to see if this was some known issue, but I couldn't really find anything.

It would be important that the person understand that this game actually uses Internet Explorer to run itself. Honestly, it seems that something is going on at a certain point in which the GPU is taxed. Are you able to play other games or watch movies?

OH SNAP! Totally forgot about a workaround - go into the config settings and change the resolution then launch. After that, change it back to the standard setting and relaunch. I have known this to work for many people.
