I have 2 accounts for FFXI and I've heard of people multiboxing on the same PC, how is this done? Also how are the inputs controlled, for instance if I were using a controller would it control both or just the one in focus? I've heard of people having issues with the controller controlling the game even when it's minimized before.

(I hate that I don't know this...)

Basically I want to be able to dual box while I'm at school next semester (just reactivated my other account) and not have to buy a netbook or something to tote around too.

You need unofficial windower, and to run two instances, you simply open the program twice.

As for controls, as far as I know the window has to be focused for the controls to work, you can only control one window at a time, if there is a way around that, I never found it, but after a week or so getting used to it, it's easy enough switching windows.

Wouldn't installing it to two paths work? meh if not whatever.

As for the controller thing, that's fine as long as I don't go to move in the one and the other doesn't start moving with it, it wouldn't be much different than changing screens.

In fact I could start doing it at home too, just use my hdmi output (that I'm using right now) for my monitor and use the laptops screen and just alt-tab :D

Now if there were only a way to get a controller assigned to each window, then I could just dualbox with both active, that'd be the ***.

Guess I could indulge in figuring out a way to assign a controller via the windower control panel and have them code it to a release. It would be a cool feature to have, but I guess the usefulness of it would be to a limited user base so meh.

I don't think installing it to two different paths would really work. Even if it is installed to another path, the process is still the same, and it's not designed for multiple instances, whether that is intentional or not, I have no idea. All I know is that Windower does run more than once and that vanilla FFXI won't.

There might be a way to have both screens respond to different control inputs without having to Alt+Tab, but if there is, it's not just a simple solution. I tried to find a way and couldn't, I gave up eventually because it wasn't worth all the effort for a minor inconvenience.

yeah, I don't think I'll go through too much trouble to attempt it. I may even just end up dropping $200ish on a netbook to use, or buy a used one. It's not like xi takes up that much power and It'd be nice to have a smaller portable device, the 17" laptop is nice, but the *** is a brick.

On another note, I wish I could find my mifi ; ;
