While I agree with this statement as a whole (the last bit makes it ok).
But I know for a fact I know more about PLD than a lot of the people I have seen play the job @ 75. But that is because I have done the research into the game and choose to understand the game.
So I guess what I am trying to say is, I hate it when people say:
"GTFO, PLD lvl 1 so you know nothing"
Reminds me of a pld I was in pt with yesterday or the day before. He would pretty much voke like clockwork and flash at the start of a fight and that was pretty much it. Oh and like pretty much cure IV'd everytime he went under 50%. I mean wouldn't even respond to pt chat. Let at least 2 deaths happen cause he wouldn't sentinel, voke, flash, or cover. I'm half convinced he was a bot.
BRDs that play Minuet and Madrigal in a merit party
and think they are pro for doing it...
Haste sucks. Just ask the zomg riceballs give +150 att 15% double sam. I can kinda see using your enhance riceballs. It's kinda cool and fun but that still doesn't explain why the he doesn't have haste on the waist and legs at least lol.
When someone who has a job at 0 thinks they know it better than you, when it's the one job you play all the time, do loads of research and tests on...
This statement can definitely be true, but there are also some definite exceptions. I'd trust, say, vegetto's opinion on a peice of gear over aalmost any 75 war(including me) even though his war is like 38 or so.
Also, intermittent quote function/having to quote manually grinds my gears
/ But anyway, thousands of damage? That's a crude exagerration at best, because even if they're as gimp as him, they won't be outparsed by that much. And anyone better would outparse him. Just can't figure out which random part of his body he pulled that statistic out of haha.
Yeah. I'm pretty sure he is way, way, exaggerating. It's hard to see him at the top of a parse. It's also hard to imagine someone smart enough to parse regularly and dumb enough to gear like that. I think some people just noticed that since a parse is as near to the gold standard as we get, they tend to just pop the word in there because they've picked up on the fact it makes you more likely to be taken seriously.
Still, over three hours, thousands of damage(depending on how many thousand, of course) is really actually pretty small, percentage-wise

This attitude grinds my gears. Not that veggeto isnt good but people acting like hes god just because he is able to clearly articulate his data very well grinds my gears.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Raen and Thorny are better at the math thing than I am and don't catch the recognition they deserve around here, though they're well recognized on BG.

I don't think any one is hailing him as a "god", just a guy you can normally rely on for a decent and well thought out answers for gear questions.
If I ask X vs Y for Z DD job who will I believe?
* Veg who writes a nice little bit of maths to make the decision and then gives me the answer
* Some one who eats rice balls and parses several thousand a head of 'haste DDs' and bases their decision on a ill-informed guess.
I have never quite understood why some people on this forum get quite so defensive/aggressive when someone else uses maths to support their point.
Its not that I don't think vegetto is right 99% of the time and one of the best sources of information on this forum its the statement of his opinion being better than anyone whose 75 in a job when he only has it a sub job level.
I know plenty of people take jobs to 75 and dont learn them correctly and a smart dedicated forum reader such as yourself or veg can easily put thier knowledge to shame without even unlocking said job. Dude just rubs me as a kiss *** is all lol.

The amount of maths behind this game I can tolerate varies heavily on what we're talking about. When I make a decision based on the entertainment or enjoyment factor of something, I simply don't want a barrage of formulas, equations, etc about my choice.
Now if I make a decision about a piece of gear and somebody can mathematically prove to me it's not as good as what I was using (what I don't have to me isn't a factor), I welcome it, providing they're not an *** about it.
I think the problem with this maths craze is it often pops up where it's unwanted, and that's when people, myself included, get a bit annoyed with it.
Just my two cents, but I like to remember that this game is about the enjoyment, not the maths behind it.
I hate when people discredit math with the "this is a game I play it to have fun" card.
Me too, but not in that sense. I dislike it when people use it as an excuse for not paying attention, slacking off, randomly going AFK, etc. But when people throw a barrage of mathematics at somebody over something that person essentially doesn't give a ***about, I think it then becomes a very valid argument.
It grinds my gears when people claim to be right about something and then when proven wrong act like they know but they are doing it for another reason.
For example saying they are doing better and then changing it to I know I just want to have fun. Or saying you are wrong about something and then being like um was just kidding hahaha. Seriously you couldn't be a more obvious liar if you tried and trying to actually get away with that is insulting to everyone around yous intelligence.

I hate when people discredit math with the "this is a game I play it to have fun" card. What they dont realize is this is an online game and its about the groups fun moreso than the individuals fun. And for seasoned players number crunching to maximize thier effectivness is = to fun.
Biggest load of ***I ever did see
Than you didn't see the load of ***I took this morning.
