I'm wondering how HQ tiers work. I'm guessing that if you are 51+ levels over the cap, that you have a 50% chance to HQ to the first tier, then 50% of your tier 1 HQ results would be tier 2, etc, etc. Anyone know if this is right?

Some people say every 20 lvls after 11 is a tier, some say every 10 lvls after 11 is a tier. You wont get a solid answer on %s since there are so many other factors that are unknown and it is random anyways.

i'm not worried specifically about percents, but rather what causes the different tiers of HQ. If I'm not mistaken, when a HQ synth is achieved, it then takes that percent again to see if it will HQ to the next tier. so if you had a 50% chance to HQ, then overall percent chance for an item that had NQ, HQ1, and HQ2 tiers, it'd be 50%, 25% and 25% chance for each tier. Sorry if this is a little confusing...

well, i don't see any information on the HQ2 and 3 tiers, but like you said 50 lvls above the skill of the synth is supposedly 50% chance of HQ. being that HQ2 and 3 are 2times and 3times as good as the regular HQ, then i think an educated guess would b that it is 50% less likely to HQ2 and 66% less likely to HQ3. so if you are 50 or more levels above the synth then HQ2 you could guess that you would probably have around a 25% chance of succeeding and for HQ3 you would have around a 15% chance of succeding. I don't really know if thats valid. the only way to get accurate results would be to take a craft 50 lvls above a synth that gives HQ1, 2 and 3 and then to do it a hundred or more times and keep tabs on it, lol...

The way i look at HQ1 HQ2 and HQ3 is like this:

Say i am synthing colored rocks into gems.

Typically I HQ the ***out of them since im tier 3 51 over cap on synth.

It seems to fall along the same lines of this:

HQ3 is like a tier 1 HQ on the synth roughly but not always 10%

HQ2 is like a tier 2 HQ on the synth, generally 25% give or take

HQ1 is very common and roughly 50%, though slighly lower given the high yield of HQ2's i generally get

Rest are NQ's.

Of course this would only apply to something that is HQ3'able and you are in the third HQ tier, and also this is only my observation and my general rule of thumb for it.

I think i may have just reiterated the post above me, i dunno i didnt read it all, sleepy eyes and i got intimidated by the wall, but anyway this is the easiest way i think there is to grasp this concept, just look at a HQ2 as a tier 2 (31 over cap) and an HQ3 as a tier 1 (11 over).

Yes, you have to have both sub craft and main craft at or above the cap. So if you have a synth that takes main craft 70 and subcraft 49. and you have main 100+3 and sub 60+1 you are going to be in a Tier 1 synth no matter what you do.

I have personally been in the 80s and tried to craft gloves (level < 10 craft) for GP ... I ended up going 1/7 on the HQs. That being said while **skilling** on Master's Sitabaki, I ended up HQing 2 in a row.

I can't talk about percentages only personal experience. But honestly I think people in this game just throw percentages out and people take it as fact.
