The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Sylph.Kollosis said: » omg..................................... 12 more hours. The sad part is as soon as i start playing i'll probably spend 30-40 min just on the character creation screen. I think it's only fair to review the game as a whole.
To degrade the game by singling out faults that ultimately don't impact the overall value of your enjoyment within the game is dancing along the lines of being snobbish/hipsterish. Caitsith.Shiroi said: » Not sure why Joystiq gave Skyrim 100 when they said the combats mechanics did not improve much and it's still only mindless meleeing. But whatever I'm sure despite the overrated hype it's a great game. 100%, 10/10, 5/5, etc does not mean "Perfect", it simply means Best in its class. Art can't be perfect, that's its nature. There's a lot wrong with Skyrim, but what it does right are exponential in number of what it does wrong. Where games like Zelda, Uncharted, Gears of War 3 all just do between one and five things well, and few things tangibly wrong, the economy of scale will always favor Skyrim or any Elder Scrolls game really. For every one failure it has, it has twelve successes. -Stiff NPC's that lack emotes. -Questionable Friendly AI -Overwhelming to the point of flaw. -Bugs It doesn't matter, for every one of those I can list three games worth of top-notch quality features. Elder Scrolls games always have a reach exceeding their grasp, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Odin.Daemun said: » I've been sorting out what kinds of characters I want to make first. I had 5 characters in the 40's on Oblivion, 6 Fallout 3 characters, etc. I've always started with a Nord, so by golly, I think I'm going to go Nord again, since this is their homeland and all. I always start with a pretty generalized, well rounded character at first, then start going for really specific builds and role-play concepts(heroes, villains, etc) afterwards. Really interested in what the whole werewolf thing is all about... I'm hoping the vampire look a little better this time than the gross wrinkly faced ones in Oblivion. lol, completely forgot about becoming vampires...took forever.
Definitely going to be part of the bad people guild again. Sadly though, I've played Morrowind and Oblivion and as much of the story I remember is basically vampires, daedra, getting your own house, master assassin (i think) and making NPC *** follow you to your house. seven hours, twenty-four minutes...
i've just been at work making calls and spacing out. "Whats that? My apologies sir, I was reading another Skyrim review. Go on....wait, what did you say? Oh yeah, ok, HOLY *** THIS IS AWESOME. No, nothing. Yes. Yes. Ok, have a good day. Please don't tell my boss." I fear everyone from this thread's brain has exploded by this point of the day.
At this point I no longer consider what I'm doing 'work'; I'm more or less aimlessly staring at my computer screen watching the seconds tic by. Literally just broke up with my girlfriend of three years because of Skyrim.
you appear to have your priorities straight..

So I just got on Gamestop.com to check and see if my Skyrim CE pre-order had shipped yet (noticed I hadn't received an email telling me it's been shipped).
I check my order status and there it is... Backordered...(will be shipped when in stock) I am at a loss for words.. For one how can a PRE-ORDER be backordered? WTF gamestop. I already stopped shopping in store because you always screw me over, and now this?.. Seriously, I pre-ordered it in like may or june.. *** backordered. My brain is full of *** right now, I don't even... Brb, suicide. i chose release day delivery from amazon... still hasn't shipped... I'm... I'm afraid
This is why I'm glad I made friends with the manager at my GameStop. I don't have to deal with backordered pre-orders and not-getting-my-game-I-paid-for-dammit. :D
I want skyrim. . . why must I be poor. . .

Isn't the purpose of a pre-order so that you are guarenteed the game on the day of release?.. Totally ruined my day/week... So I'm guessing that if I try and pick this up from a bestbuy or gamestop tomorrow I'm dicked?

First time getting laid? Not bad. First video game console? Pretty cool. First respectable PC rig built for yourself? Neato. First paycheck all to yourself? Beef jerky. First rock concert? Right on. Skyrim? SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Guess Ill just have to see what happens... Is the downloadable PC version worth getting or would I be better off having my own game disk etc.?
If you don't mind having to download the game every time you need to reinstall, there's nothing wrong with getting a digital version really. Some moralfags don't like it because of one reason or another, but if it's more convenient for you go for it.
I have the flu... So if I'm up at midnight and it means I get to play and ignore my physical self then *** yes I'm downloading the ***.
Best to just buy the gamestop or bestbuy version of the download? I don't want to mess with steam. Really cool behind the scenes look at the making the sound and score of the game. I would try Direct2Drive if anything else. To be honest I'm not sure you'll be able to get around Steam, I think even the retail copy needs to be linked to a Steam account (could be wrong). |
