FFXIV Under New Managment?

I though all that years spent in a MMO like FFXI should have teach them what is good or bad in a game, but seem like they started from 0 without considering anything from what they learned with FFXI (mistakes). Oh well... I see what the new team are capable to do. Can still play FFXI and go enjoy some new stuff from abyssea. One last thing: I think have experience on Offline games isn't the same as have experience in Online games. he might have made Vagrant Story (which i find a beauty game) but need experience in online games. At last I think so. But I read that developer from FFXI will come help for FFXIV so *prey* (or was pray, my english sucks).

We all just need to be patient. That's one thing as a single parent with 2 boys I have had to learn. :-P But I think and pray myself they will fix the issues. My only real concern is, they will go in the opposite direction and make it really easy. I still want a challenge but not having things as simple as a mail system to trade or give items to other players is fail IMHO. It's a basic attribute in a MMO.

well i hope they take care of the biggest issue with this game... players having shadows inside caves at night! i mean really? c'mon SE what were you thinking? /facepalm

So when they wipe your character you can't complain all the money you wasted paying for the service? there's 2 sides to every arguement.

Yeah your forgetting the fact that people initially purchased the game its not like beta where its just free period and they tell you ahead of time that characters will be wiped many times. I can "almost" guarantee that there won't be any character wipes just for the simple fact people had to buy the game.

We aren't paying for service. It's been free. And while yes, it would suck, at least all of us would hopefully restart from the beginning with a game that is now more polished. I still agree with Unmei that it most likely will NOT happen. ^o-

honestly i really have no preference whether it does or not. i haven't purchased 14 since reading many reviews about it, maybe in the future if i see better reviews or player feedback.

The point i was making is it would be totally criminal of them to be charging you for all these months from start until the day they wipe(if they decided to do so) they would have practically stolen 100's of dollars off each user.. (which is not the sort of publicity or attention they want brought to their franchise)

in any case best of luck to all FF14 members i will 1 day rely on your feedback to decide whether or not to leave 11 in the past and move on to 14.

I have tried in a few ocations to make parties but I only get 1-2 people on them, sometimes yes 8+ people.... HOWEVER in 3 months I only had two good XP parties.... why? people just don't bother to join, they can solo a lot of crap themselves no need to party.

This makes the game BORING, if I wanted to SOLO i just go back to FF10 or FF13. Management at S.E. forgot:
1. This is an MMO and we need an incentive for people to join parties.
2. AND why they haven't figure out a /sea all invite function + a Player > PARTY > LIFT FLAG?


I think the effort in making this game difficult for RMT's to exploit it's resources is the same blade hurting/discouraging people from having fun.

Geez .. when I feel like sleeping, I just start crafting!!

They will not wipe characters. We purchased the game with intentions of FFXI to be the 'final' product not a beta.

Does it really make sense for them to wipe hundreds of hours of work people put into classes and crafts? No. If they ever did this I would stab myself in the chest. Then play Battlefield 3 when it comes out.

I don't play as much as some people, but I'm ready for change and more content. I still think this game has A LOT of potential. As a person who puts in 1-3 hours a day on this game I really don't see why people are really upset. This is also my first time playing an MMO out at release date...so I don't know if it is normal for an MMO to not be as polished at the start.

This is not true at all people have this misconstrued...do you realize you rank up way faster in a group vs solo. There is no comparison after lv 30 its like pointless to solo vs a group. People are not partying unless its with their LS because its frustrating to form party's because there is no seek function. Having no seek function is whats crippling party play.

SE just returned the game to pre-release development mode. We've all been playing BETA this whole time -- which we sort of knew anyways, since it was never ready for market -- but at least now they're not pretending anymore: the game isn't ready for primetime and they're going to wait until it is, with no pretense of a timetable. It'll be done when it's done, and in the meantime we all get to play a free game in development.

I agree the problem here probably wasn't the development team (every indication seemed to be that they knew what they were doing, they just didn't have enough time); that it was management pushing them to release an unfinished product. But Wada isn't going to resign. A CEO will throw underlings under the bus looooong before he'll relinquish his own paycheck. Obviously, the first patch didn't have the response they were hoping for: and if it wasn't an FF title, they probably would've scrapped the project altogether at that point. Since they can't do that without crippling the business (investors would flee in a mass exodus) they pinned it on a few now-rolling heads and promised a triumphant return somewhere-or-other down the line.

We'll see if that actually happens. Unfortunately, if it doesn't, it may seriously undermine SE. And I bet Wada will HAVE to resign then whether he likes it or not.

I'm going back to FFXI until they add more things to do. I probably won't be alone: after this announcement, a lot of people will probably be of the attitude "I'll wait and see what happens." In the meantime, their user base will dwindle to a trickle, and the game's success or failure will depend on how much noise they can stir up during the comeback and how much of that noise is based on actual, solid developments. If they blow the second attempt, that's it, dude; game over, man, game over.

Not being funny, but I wouldn't mind a refund until it is ready.

They can start by changing the damn battle system back to the style of FF instead of this WoW ***.

What is wrong with the battle system in your opinion? I personally like it how freeflowing and dynamic it is.

Ppl who leaving and returning back to FFXI what the point? when they fix all the stuff on FFXIV you be left behind and you have noting but your low rank class. i just don't see no reason to return back to a dead game like FFXI at least FFXIV is fun and it free -.-

Hope that wasnt directed at me, as I am definitely NOT quitting FFXIV. I am enjoying every minute of my time in ffxiv and despite its shortcomings, I realise the massive amount of potential it has, stored within the core of the game. >_>

At least someone know what the game can hold. There no point in not playing matter if it still in beta or not. We getting a F2P game and they not going to del our char. So once the game is fix and the PS3 come out we be 50 and once the cap come we be ready to take down whatever the game hold for us. If ppl want to join back on fail FFXI which every update they done broke the game then go for it.

Yeah I like this battle system way better than 11's. But what they can do is use the same method as 11 does with targeting, the auto targeting in 14 is fubar.

That is true, about the auto-target system. And then they released the patch to fix it; then it was broken, then they did emergency mait. to fix that which put the targeting back to the original broken way...or something like that. W/e.

The whole battle system needs some work.... Being a mage and Needing to /engage then /look at the mob to cast is annoying.

Having to stare at people to cure them is annoying as well especially in a constantly moving party


The main job exp is massively HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE. It is basically skilling up..... the amount of stupid grind to go up a job lvl is /sigh but physical level is stupid easy to cap >.>


GL at fixing the game and when "they" say its fixed our expectation will be massively high.

Uh maybe because FFXIV isn't fun to play? I left FFXIV and don't plan on returning until they make it into something worth my time. If you think its fun, more power to you. I'm not going to force myself to play and hate every minute of it so I'm not "left behind".

what do you think games are at start? fun? it all about Ranking up your class the max rank/lvl too they release stuff. FFXI was not all that fun at release then again JP was the one who test all lag,menu lag,bugs,d/c and no ah for us lol. but to each it own enjoy playing FFXI i guess. i left FFXI becuase it full of *** now and all they care about is themself at least the 3 worlds i have been where all the same hoping it was just one world. Top of that they broke the ***out of ffxi with all the 90 gear and *** :) but i guess if you don't enjoy ffxiv then pay for ffxi,.

If the game isn't fun due to lag, glitches and the game system being bad in general I'm not going to play it. XI wasn't exactly riveting to level up in, but at least I didn't get a huge amount of bugs.

Games usually are fun at the start! In fact my most fun moments in MMO are being a "newb". Getting abilities for the first time, exploring stuff, randomly dying to super hard mobs that I have no idea what they are...hehe. In the start of FFXI I had so much fun, everything was so new and exciting when I first started! Getting my WHM AF1 set..haha I loved it. Same thing with Aion...

I suppose I had a similar feeling with XIV but after about 10 minutes of starting I was like okay...what is there to do...>.> Did some leve and then stood around wondering what to do next. I still play and I still will..it just doesn't have the "oomph" all the other MMO did for me ; ; I hope someday soon it will~

i'm enjoying myself and aion was not so much fun at start -.- that ***sucked. WoW thatshit not fun today and that saying something. The fact that you playing a game that is free and which you can just log on a day and do your leves, and rank up your craft are not that bad and don't know what bugs,lag you talking about cuz sense nov update i'm good the only lag iget is due to my low pc lol.
