size as a factor just increases statistical likelihood, nothing more unfortunately D:

(the biggest confining factor is time- what are the chances that the new form of life exists at this present moment? as big as the universe is, it's nothing compared to how old it is)

When you consider how many stars there are (there's over 100,000,000,000 stars in our galaxy alone with estimates reaching up to 200,000,000,000+, and hundreds of billions of galaxies out there, not to mention our galaxy is not the largest by any stretch, some contain 100,000,000,000,000 stars or more) and that a lot of stars have planets orbiting them, the chances of there NOT being life are actually pretty dismal IMO..

The thought that there is not life anywhere else originates from religion, that we are the center of everything (which was disproved hundreds of years ago anyways)..

I hate to be this guy, but Scragg already posted this video as its own thread about 6 months back.

Not that it diminishes the impact of your video or anything.

Now I do agree there can be life on other planets and the likes of it, but the universe with it's vastness can not compare to the iron ball in the center of our planet.

No other planet in the universe has stable gravity, how can life be possible on other planets then?

If you don't believe that, then find me a planet with 1.0 gravity lol.

But wait they'll still say oh other life forms can still exist!

Oh, where exactly are they again? lol.
Yes, because we know what every other planet in the universe is like, even though we've only found a few hundred extrasolar planets...

It's incredibly difficult to even find planets that dwarf Jupiter with our current technology, nevermind finding possible candidates for Earth like planets. We have found some rocky planets outside of our own solar system, but the vast majority of the planets we've found are gas giants, and the reason for that is evident in their names, giants, meaning a better chance and an easier time finding them.

Also, I should probably point out, that we're suited to life on this planet, because we evolved on this planet. There's really no reason why a planet would have to match ours nearly in an identical manner, to house life. In fact, the only reason we look for places like Earth in the search for life is simply because we know life under these conditions can exist. We're already going against all the odds by trying to find life since we can only look so far, trying to theorize other conditions life could evolve on and finding them would only make the task all the more impossible..

Er, when exactly have we ever been able to study EVERY other planet in the universe? lol

Chances are better than not, we're not alone out there. The sheer expanse of the universe, and the fact we're discovering planets (some of them very earth-like) at the rate of several dozen a year now, makes it statistically likely. We're finding the buggers everywhere we look.

That being said, there's Fermi's Paradox, more easily summarized as: "Well then, where the hell is everyone?"

It's vanishingly unlikely that aliens have every visited our insignificant little planet, let alone with the only apparent goal of anally raping drunk farmers in the middle of the night.

But the alternate explanation, however more likely, isn't very satisfying either: which is that the scale of the universe is so vast, and the speed of light so inviolably slow by comparison, that most intelligent life simply doesn't have a very good chance of ever detecting one another, let alone ever meeting.

I think it's silly not to believe in life on other planets. Life doesn't have to be as intelligent, or more, than us to be considered "life" anyway. There's probably thousands of races out there, if not millions, but we just won't see them for a very long time, or ever, due to the immense size of the universe.

But who says it has to be another earth? Not illogical to consider the possibility that there are other beings out there that are nothing like us at all, but are just as intelligent, if not more.

Dude, you can't say "no planet in the universe" and then, when I find you one pretty easily, say it doesn't count because it's "too far." =)

Just the other day, NASA evidently discovered a life form that has DNA constructed from a substance we were absolutely sure must be toxic to all forms of life anywhere. Goes to show that our known definitions of life might be totally wrong.

Another Earth is near-impossible if impractical to be found.

Just need generations beyond generations to be stuck on a space ship like in Wall-E and it could be "possible." It's just not very logical if you're looking take over a planet in a few months.

Gravity isn't measured by being on the planet, even though it would prove to be more accurate, but can be with space instruments already deployed within the farthest of human radio transmissions. Ya I know, even with that it still doesn't subside with the entire universe. Don't get it twisted though, I'm all for more people in the universe, but I'm more of a realist of the here and now then the dreaming and hoping lol.

I'm aware. What I'm saying is that you make it sound as if we've covered a good portion of the universe already, when we're not even close.
