Connection Problems
By Cybermario 2010-11-16 22:16:57
Yesterday i was about to disconnect 5 times, connection went from 100 to 10% and went back to 100%, today i was compeltely disconnected, and just now again, this time i cannot log back, going from errors pol-0006 to 0011 to 1160 and well im playing from xbox and i can log xbox live without any trouble, my pc can surf just fine, cables unpluged and pluged again so clearly that is not the issue here, anyone have idea how to fix this? is starting to irk me.
EDIT:
Aparently is not just me, other mexican players cant log and SE and Playonline website taking a lot of time to load, seems SE want us out.

I've been on the phone with them all day (TalkTalk) and all I have got is they don't work with issues from third party companies, I've been connected to someone in England also and he said the same thing and that he can't go into it further, so it looks like we'll just have to ***up their forums again until it is resolved.
Also I was disconnected around 6pm GMT last night, I play on Xbox. XBL is working perfectly, so it is just FFXI.

Talktalk customer - same problem SE told me i losing connection at ip address 62.24.255.82 and also that they think talktalk are routing us through Telia to japan and Telia apparently has issues ><.
I did ask why the f are SE not sorting this out instead of us after all it is their customers who are being screwed and was politely asked "is there anything else i can help you with"
So god only knows when this will be sorted took over 2 weeks the last time and talktalk still say that it was f'all to do with them :(

I, too have been experiencing the exact same problem. If I manage to access the game the connection will drop after a minute or so. Had the same issue a few months back and it took around 2 weeks to resolve. Currently with TalkTalk and live in the UK.
EDIT: Can't even get anywhere close to having the game load up, constantly getting POL errors left and right.

Yeah my friend on TalkTalk in the UK can't get to play for the R0 problem. I'm pretty sure I remember the last time this problem occurred across a few ISPs it was because they were trying to restrict possible p2p activity. I imagine if that is the case then in time they will make an exception for FFXI. It's just a problem that in the meantime they are *never* willing to disclose information. :(

Looks to me like FFXI has been blocked as a p2p again by TalkTalk, same thing they did a couple of months back.

I'm with talk talk and only yesterday did the problem occur in getting quite literally insta R-0 can't do anything. Is there nothing we can do other than wait for talk talk or who ever it is to "fix it?"
By seiri 2010-11-18 10:48:23
The problem doesnt seem to be connected to service providers. Several different service providers have been having this issue, and even within one building one computer (mine) is having the issue whereas another (housemates) is able to log in fine. Having been in contact with SE they, as usual, attempted to push the issue away from their side, so im just running through the various troubleshooting documents i recieved or had before. Will post results.

In addition, those talking about talktalk's throttle on peer2peer services, that throttle only applies to peek hours and not all day.

luckily these issues are all the same as at your house....
/sarcasm.
how do you know they don't throttle p2p outside of peak hours?
it's easy to say something like that just out in the open.
i'd say it's most likely going to be the same issue with talktalk for most users with that service honestly, but that's because that's how it has been before.
but hey! you don't see everyone complaining about it so that means it doesn't have to be the whole network.

DO NOT USE TALKTALK
Terrible, terrible broadband service. I recommend O2; on it at the moment and experience nearly zero problems. High connection speed, reliable connections, no problems whatsoever.

I'm using BT currently, Orange were bad though too.
Seriously we need more areas covered by fibre optic broadband.

Would be nice. Despite their FO I hear Virgin are pretty inconsistent, though they may have improved. University just had several articles dissuading people from using them last year despite their speeds, so when moving in this year got O2 instead - no complaints yet!

Sadly I live in the middle of no-where currently, so until I move into more civilisation I'm not going to be able to get more than 8Mb tops. I'm on 2.5Mb atm.
I heard Virgin are trying for 100Mb atm.

Virgin is terrible, I have just moved away from their all singing all dancing internet. Ive had continuous over utilisation issues on their servers (and the exchange is literally up the road) with anywhere from 85-95% utilisation of each server.
They put 300 people on each one and when the usage is this high the packet loss is knocking on 10-15% and latency was 100-700ms where it should of been 30-50.
The have oversold their 50meg broadband and then proceeded to put the 50 meg and 20 meg users on the same nodes. (They have a proper name but Nodes is the only thing that I can think of)
I had horrific inconsistant internet usage for 18 months before they admitted it was actually them (I found an honest engineer) the help desl informed me that it would be fixed in 6 weeks time. At this point I told them to *** off.
Unfortunately (it seems) I have moved to talktalk lol. But like I say earlier all internet is running perfectly smooth..... apart from this slight R0 bounce going on. I only drop to 94% and im fine again.
Few LS members getting same prob but they arent with talktalk.

Not this crap again >< Been R0ing at evening peak times (GMT) for past few weeks. Happened to me a few months ago also (with AoL still).
I thought it was because of new router but now I can't get on the game at all while steam and other games work fine -.-
By Sambb 2010-11-18 13:00:24
yeah my internet is fine and i am talking to some one over xboxlive but cant log in past 1 second on ffxi this is seriously pissing me off, this has never happened to me before

Also a TalkTalk customer, been having this problem since around 6pm yesterday evening, this happened for around 3 months every evening past 6pm pretty much this time last year I would say. All they said was it was BT line repairs or some crap. Used to be fine past 11pm but every evening come 6pm it would just constantly red dot, even though s/r is fine, still see ls, recieve tells, see dmg taken >.> Just hope it don't take as long to sort out this time.
This isnt like that. It disconnects at random points during PoL login and then IF you manage to get onto the game you get 10 seconds or less before it disconnects you fully.
