Open Carry of Firearms: Yea or Nay?

Have any of you used a Mossberg 590? Gunshow coming up near me soon and was thinking of picking one up.
I haven't personally used one, but if it's good enough to send to a warzone filled with sand, I'd trust it with my life after a proper function check and break in.
I made a sign today and put it up in front of my house saying that there are no guns in my home. I'll give you guys a week by week update.
Just to make another comment on this as well. for as long as I have been alive you have not been able to legally own a gun in Chicago and my home has never been broken into and I have never been robbed. P.S. I'm not against gun ownership if you have bothered to read any of my posts in this thread. Chicago, once the lower court finishes its job, that won't be the case anymore. What you posted is merely anecdotal evidence, but I'm sure you know that. We all know that the claim that no home has ever been broken into and nobody has been robbed in Chicago while there has been a blanket handgun ban in place can't be made. Edit: Good luck with the whole posting a sign thing. Hope nothing bad happens. No it doesn't mean that no one anywhere in Chicago never had their house broken into but I hadn't and no one I've ever known personally has. And just like my example doesn't isn't an absolute it isn't an absolute that just because people know you don't have a gun in the house means they're going to rob you. And you're right is it a ban on hand guns and as I have said previously I had heard that may be repealed if it hasn't already been. As it pertains to this thread there is still no open carry or concealed carry in the state of Illinois as a whole. Are there any other factors that may influence someone from the community to not rob you?

People hesitate, animals don't. I really don't get guns. Is the gun hobby a compensation thing like sportscars or something?

Do you put a sign up in front of your house for everything you believe? Would you? Would a politician that cheats on his wife put a sign up in front of his house that says "I believe I should be able to stick my *** where ever I want to even though I'm married!" then ask for your vote in 2012? Its a silly thing to say imo. Wouldn't it be funny if someone does put the sign up and they get robbed and assaulted then sue the guy arguing that they never would have put it up if it wasn't for that guy! lol... I don't think it's silly at all. I am not a sign in my yard kind of guy, but there's tons of people that are. Pro life, pro choice, whatever NFL team, US Flags, other country's flags, blue star moms, boy scouts, political affiliation, I love my [whatever breed of dog] are all pretty common signs/stickers in windows. If it is something that you feel strongly about or want to share with the world in general, really, why wouldn't you? Probably the more serious question for people who are anti-gun (in general) would be: "If a sign was placed in your yard stating that there were no guns in your house, would you feel safer at home? Less safe? No change?" I guess I don't understand it all as it seems that this guy thinks putting up a sign like this will get you robbed and and its like he wants you to because you disagree with him? how is that a good thing? People are allowed to disagree and fight for the way they think things should be. But damn if they don't agree with me on this subject lets antagonize them into a situation where we think their lives will be put in danger to prove our point! to me thats *** up. Personally, and as I said earlier, I have been learning to use a gun over the past couple of years. Still to this day I hope that I never have to use one as I don't like the idea of severely injuring someone or killing them. That's just where I stand though. I think it varies greatly. some peps like to shoot for fun, some like to hunt, some just like a feeling of security. but ya, i'm sure a small amount have a tiny pecker & no friends Siren.Mosin said: » Wenuden said: » For reference, are you in a generally good or generally bad neighborhood? Also they need to know about fire-arms becoming contraband in certain areas/establishments/goverment buildings. Police needed to be trained on citizens rights as well.
lmao, cause of the good neighborhood, not the puggle >.<

More-so with hand-guns. I'm all about people keeping their guns, but I think having the guns and the ammo separate is the way to go. We all want that sense of security to protect from that chance situation of being dominated, that's why we lock our doors and many other things even though they don't really serve much more of a protection if someone really wants to get 'atcha. If we judged the world all on what-ifs we'd have a war in Iraq over Nuclear Weapons that weren't really there...wait nvm...carry on. Plenty of other weapons out there, some people want the wild wild west back methinks. |
