Yup. I'm a snobby film critic.
All that was going through my mind was "This is Pocahontas HD"
The storyline wasn't ground breaking, and it was WAY over hyped. It was mediocre in every sense and yet it had a stupidly large following. And now another 2 coming out WTF.

Yup. I'm a snobby film critic. Exactly, thats why :p when i go to see a movie i never ever do that. Avatar didnt even remind me of pocahontas for 1 second, i only found out after people were bashing it and saying it sucked.

Well I've always been into films and cinema so It's kinda hard to turn off my brain whilst watching it lol. Terminator Salvation was the same, my friends were enjoying the action and I just wanted to die. Inception was awful too.

I really enjoyed Avatar, when i left the theater i kept thinking to myself they did an amazing job creating "Pandora". The world they created was pretty awesome, i love the animals where you touch them and their backs go up and they spin like crazy

Themes of understanding and planetary harmony are recycled ill give you that but my point was is what isn't? every movie has been made, every line uttered, so if your of that opinion, every movie is a bad movie.

This was my thoughts. I also liked the idea behind the avatar and the thought of a man who had lost some of his connection to the world gaining it back in a new way.

There's a difference between using the same theme as another movie, and totally ripping it off. Pocahontas is basically the exact same story as Avatar. Also the acting man, the crazy general was one of the worst actors I've ever seen.

I worked out the twist to Inception as soon as it started and they had a double dream.
Kinda... obvious.

Qoute is broken for me >.<
@Flion
Well if your into film, then you should know about one of the most important things about watching a movie is suspension of disbelief, If you let yourself get lost in an entire new world they created its a great movie. I dont think your really apprieciate how hard it would be to come up with not only the floora and fauna of an alien planet, not to mention ALL the animals. There a lot of elements in this movie that you dont give that team credit for.

I did really try to get into the movie, I've seen it 3 times all together, once in 3D (first time) Second time normally and then again on DVD.
Yes the animals show a lot of creative ingenuity and they created a beautiful world (hence me saying it was pretty earlier) but at the end of the day you need more than a creative staff. The movie was let down by the writing cast, it had that typical "Amurican!" attitude to it and it just felt stale in general.

G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra
The new A-Team
The new Karate Kid
anything with Zach Efron leading
Spoof movies that try to cash in on the Scary Movie train
all the Final Destinations after the first one
Jonah Hill lead movies
Michael Cera in any movie
Reba, since she can't play anything but herself(not in movies but it bugs me)
new adam sandler movies(reign over me was his last good one)
movies with john heder and billy bob thorton
billy bob thorton movies(except like bad santa and a few others)
Daybreakers
the road
many more after that...

But thats the thing, i dont sense and "american" hand in this. In fact the humans were a like the ultra-future we got crazy guns americans. I feel like the message was to go against that. Also, if ur talking about american influence just as in the american movie industry, then i feel your wrong there too, because like i said earlier, most movies that come out are jam packed with cretins like shyloh buff (or wtf ever)untill were sick of them and their careers plumet. This movie was a break from the constant will ferrel enima that everyone seems to love so much. Or again, *** micheal cera, that kid hasnt stopped working on movies since his first one, and you can tell me that those movies are better than avaatar?
