Stonega IV for BLMs

It could be Stonaga IV with an added effect.
I'm hoping for something like defense down over rasp though. Defense down is more commonly associated with wind, so I doubt it. You know SE, it will most likely be the elemental DOT line.
The -ja on spells in most games in the past means it's an AoE or Target all spell. However seeing as SE has broken the usual standard, it's safe to say that this spell is going to be somehow different than your normal -aga spells in some way.
well I'm thinking it is 'Ga4' because the picture on the update page showing the BLM casting, according to the DAT's thats Waterga4

It must do something extra like rasp or petrify or some added effect. If it will have any extra effects, we will have to wait until the update to find out. It probably will be Rasp though. Or Acc down. Mobs already have the tier IV -agas so they're already implemented in the game. These are not tier IV -agas otherwise they'd of called them such. This is an entirely new set of spells. We'll have to wait and see though to truly know what they are/do.
Randomguy said: Leviathan.Draylo said: Randomguy said: Stonega IV for BLMs I think it'll probably be like Cura. White Mage is now just getting Cura II, so... Probably Stoneja, Stoneja II, Stoneja III, etc? I dunno. Everything is speculation atm until things are released. -ja line spells in FFXII were AoE damage centred on a target and a chance of a status effect proc. So Darkja was Darkness AoE damage and Blind/Death chance, Aeroja was Wind AoE damage and Confuse chance. Only Espers could use these spells, which were effectively tier IV-line elemental magic.
Some of them would be changed, obviously, as there's no Confuse in FFXI and Waterja would inflict Poison instead of Silence like it does in FFXII. But these are Dark magic and not Elemental; just bear that in mind. Could be something totally different. If it's anything like past FFs, it would just be an insanely powerful AoE - potentially the power of Ancient magic.
This stuff all sounds cool. I hate to be selfish, but I really, really hope SE gives us Thunder V, Blizzard V, Thundaje, Blizzaje, etc in the next update. This is because I have capped thunder and ice merits, and I want them to be happy and useful merits. If Stone and Aero end up being more useful at the end of all the updates, I'll have to merit them instead. But I would definitely wait until the end of ALL the new updates before I do that! Just in case.

Edit: Just noticed AM, not AMII. I was thinking AMII It's actually more powerful than AM, yes. Almost comparable to AM2. Just takes a ton of MP.
I think Haseyo was referring to an AoE equivalent of Ancient Magic. Everyone wanted stuff like Burstga and Freezega; this could be the answer.

I certainly have not experienced every event in ffxi but how often does a blm cast an aga without then intention of either killing a few mobs at once or sleepgaing them afterwards. :/

basically Quakega Prolly will take forever to cast, be an MP *** and do insane amount of damage. Cerberus.Kalyna said: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Stoneja basically Quakega Prolly will take forever to cast, be an MP *** and do insane amount of damage. Quote: Stoneja, also known as Quakeja, is a recurring spell in the Final Fantasy series. It is usually the strongest Earth-elemental spell available in the games where it appears. See also: Stone (Spell), Stone II, and Stonega. Appearances Final Fantasy XII Quakeja is usable only by the Esper Hashmal. It deals heavy Earth damage and may inflict Petrify. Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings Stoneja is again usable only by Hashmal. It deals massive Earth damage in an area centered around a chosen target. Of all the games it appears! FF12 and FF12 -.- That made me lol ;) Replying to a few points people have mentioned at complete random. If it inflicts a status down effect, Draylo is right, Aeroja would be def down, not Stoneja, Stoneja would be accuracy down as stone > thunder, while thunder = DEX. (Just as rasp lowers dex, not vit)
While the obvious assumption would be stonega IV, the fact that ga IV are already in the game suggests otherwise. Also, while in other games, the ra ga ja etc. have simply denoted the tier of a spell (fire > fira > firaga > firaja), FFXI simply uses numbers for this. I definitely think it will be aoe because of the ja, but it's quite possible that it's not even a damaging spell. It could be something as simple as raspga, but with a cooler name. Probably not, but it could be. I think most likely, it'll be a combination of stonega and rasp, or stonega and something, which will actually make it pretty *** useless in general. Weaker damage than stonega for more MP, and weaker rasp effect, or w/e. Guess we'll wait and see. @Aequis, it actually says these spells are black magic, not dark magic. Black magic includes elemental, dark and (some?) enfeebling spells. @Aequis again, funny you should mention confuse, as rdm is getting a spell called Addle, which is another word for confuse. @Rowland, break won't have an added effect of petrify, it will be non-damaging, petrify only. (and will be resisted by absolutely every mob in the game you want it to land on, or last about a second, ie. stun 2) Odin.Blazza said: I definitely think it will be aoe because of the ja, but it's quite possible that it's not even a damaging spell.
