If this is to happen, they've lost my custom for sure. Not helping some customer's problems because the majority is OK is just damn ridiculous.

Managed to get on with Hotspot again, maybe I can get my 2k tnl which I would of got in pt last night if I didn't d/c.. twice.

I'm sorry about Hotspot not being great, but I did say not to trust it too much.
i actually found it fairly clever that once i logged in i could close hotspot down and had a good conenction for over an hour.. ok i did d/c but then it was an LS party and they knew my situation.
hell i had a 3 hr pt in e.ron to get nin to 40 and d/c'ed just once.
im very much a fan of it atm.. it gets me in thats all that matters

So wait.. is it the actual connection to the server that is being denied on first start?

i cant be certain.. all i do know is that i turned hotspot off and i was still connected...
maybe someone using it can try it? i cant atm
I'll try.. but my PC/Connections seems to *** hate Hotspot.

i turn on hotspot.. log all the way in.. zone soemwhere to make sure theres a stable connection..
close hotspot and keep playing.. (its possible i just got damned lucky)

With Hotspot on, I can't even get past "Checking PlayOnline Version" logging into POL ._.
I'm gonna try alternatives, I'll drop a post if any work for those who can't get on with Hotspot.
Edit: Found one that works, browsing with it sucks, but FFXI works fine with it.. for now.

I'm playing without Hotspot atm. Didn't even have to use it to log in.

basically its a "Virtual Private Network"
it sits on top of your current network and opens up ports that are restricted on say, TalkTalk.
this doesnt mean it opens it to viruses in the slightest..
all it does is open up a webpage and obtain a "secure" connection.
its free to download and easy to install the link was earlier in the thread.. page 2 i think.

hotspot kinda runs like a proxy thing? or something.
Turning off webcams, torrents, streaming files - anything that will use a LOT of your connection. Turning all this stuff off seems to give me a connection that will last for hours.

Hotspot works for some and not others.. its no different to running a proxy server to get round your work's security block ;)

god its so annoying. I dont think ill try this hotspot since im no good with computer things thought, guess ill just have to wait and wait :(
maybe talktalk has joined forces with Square Enix to piss everybody off so we all rush out to buy FF14 They wanna kill FF11 slowly so they're d/cing us 1 by 1 :(

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I've got something to use. I got a lvl and NIN and part of a trial done so.. better than nothing
i wonder if this affects FFXIV beta users too? since its just packets just being delivered that arnt..

I had problems with the download but the actual gameplay was fine.

i know of 2 people at least that DC right after getting abyssea status and end up not able to do abyssea for 3 days.
tho GM finally helped one of them out last night (after 80% of abyssea was done)

is it just ff11 thats having problems due to talktalk or is it hard to play any game online with them?
