Does anyone here have Comcast, because I'm having a problem with their modem.

Every few minutes and even sometimes several times a minute i will lose access to the internet, when playing FFXI i will R0, on my PS3 i'll lag up and get kicked from whatever i was playing online, and when im just on the interwebz firefox will tell me i dont have access to the internet

and sometimes the modem will reset itself after that will happen

im just wondering if anyone has had similar problems with their Ubee D3.0 modem and if they fixed it if they can help me out

A LS mate of mine is nearly ready to hogtie a comcast repairman and keep him there till his connection is fixed. Sounds a lot like your problem, he can't stay on for long at all before getting booted.

It seemed every other week at least I'd have a problem similar to what you described, I'd call them up, it'd get fixed, and back to business.

Then I dumped their internet service, got AT&T, and in the last year and a half, it has disconnected unexpectedly maybe 3 times max.

They're most likely doing maintenance on their termination systems (CMTS). Every time they make a small alteration it forces your modem to negotiate a new configuration file.

It happens from time to time, nothing you can do but wait it out =\.

well i switched from AT&T to comcast and daily that would reset which was an annoyance, but mostly would only happen once and last maybe a minute or two

what i didnt like was the AT&T modem would sometimes take up to a few hours to reset which was kind of weird, like it lost its signal or something

worst part about that is with AT&T i couldnt watch tv when the modem would reset...

Just replacing my coax seemed to work. But they replaced the modem too incase it might cause some other problems and because the person was nice and if it was a modem problem they wouldn't charge me

You can try replacing the cable device like Dasva did, but usually those things don't break.

If they say your line condition is green, your line condition is green, it's most likely just termination maintenance.

Edit: If anything you can request a percentage credit for your account, all you have to do is call them and ask for billing and explain the situation.

Eg. Tell them the connection only worked 50% of the time you were using it. They'll take 50% off your bill for that billing period.

Yeah, they're just doing maintenance and not telling you about it ;x.

You can ask a tech to come out to replace the wire between your house and the main line. Swap out all the splitters etc. But if there was a problem with any of that, your condition wouldn't be green ;x.

Yeah, it's sad.

The problem always lies at the gateway end. Nothing the at home techs can do about it.

Yeah just last week it was out but when I called before I even got to a person they had an automatic message saying it was out in the area and if it wasn't back on by 8pm that night they would text me when it did come back. Always had good luck with comcast.

I would try replacing everything though. Maybe make a log of when it goes out see what's going on then

Sometimes a corroded connector on the cable line itself can cause similar issues, usually only happens with older cable lines and poor installation of the wire itself.

That's a shitty thing about comcast.

If you call and Rep1 picks up, and tells you there's a problem or w/e and tells you to wait for x amount of time, they'll place a note under your account "Told customer to wait X amount of time". From then, if you even bother to call back before the timer goes up, you'll have a really hard time reaching anyone unless you give them a fake phone/account number.

well they'd be old if they just jacked into existing cable wire and didn't install new wires or anything.

It's Comcast standard procedure to crimp a new head on the bnc connectors for their new customers.
