June 21st Update Files - Direct Download

I gotta be doing something incorrectly. Please help ^_^

I'm using Windows 7 (fairly new user, not accustomed to everything yet really).

I downloaded the .RAR file from the BG thread Krazy posted above.

I used 7-Zip (also tried WinRAR, same result, no difference) to extract the file to my Final Fantasy XI folder.
I tried doing this all-at-once, and then also tried individually extracting them one-at-a-time to the Final Fantasy XI subfolders with the same name (same result, no difference).

It's not worked yet. Still getting 1800+ files needing to be downloaded (@ like 7+ hours, ugh) when I start the version updater through POL.

For whatever reason, I'm NOT getting the prompt asking me to "merge" or "remove and replace". Maybe this is a clue as to why it's not working for me, to someone with a more computer OS-savvy eye?

ok here's exactly what i did after i backed up my ffxi folder >_>

1. right click update and open, rename the folder to "FINAL FANTASY XI" no quotes, all caps. it went through and renamed all the roms or w/e took like 3 mins

2. then i extracted

3. then i opened another explorer for the ffxi directory on my hd

4. i dragged and dropped the rom folders one by one into the ffxi directory (Note: I'm referring to "ffxi directory" to me actually double clicking "Final Fantasy XI" in the play online sub folders, where you see all the rom folders etc.)

5. after copied, crossed fingers and logged in, 5 files to download!

Using Vista for this, like previously said, i did click yes to merge, move and replace, and even some extra stuff like needs admin rights to do this process etc.

Bump. This page saved my sanity. 11hr download, No thanks.

Manually moving and merging all those files was some seriously tedious work (I burned the batteries out on my mouse with all that clicking) ... but it still probably beats a 10 hour DL through POL ... with an inevitable half-dozen (or more) lag/time-outs.
