Yes, but it can be easily obtained by Trading Cave Cherax for inside the belly quest, 23.2% is pretty decent drop rate from them. If you take this route its quite profitable. Just gotta put in a lil time for the dime. ^.^ happy fishing

I'm not rich beyond any means of the word so don't misunderstand.
I am never ever... EVER... broke in this game. I can typically buy anything i want or need within reason all day every day.
Cooking and Alchemy are crafts that will always make decent money because consumables are not recycled in the economy like gear is.
It just requires a ***ton of mules if you mass produce like i do.

To Itachi it doesn't really cost a lot to get cooking to 100, i spent maybe 1M-1.5M on it you just gotta craft during good moon phases and when ya get to 99-100 synthesis just buy a ton of Rolenberry from NPC in upper jeuno and head to the crawlers nest an kill pop NM Crawlers an start collecting Aged versions of Rolenberrys to pop The Teir Family of Crawlers that all lead to 1 crawler the Ghost crawler named "Awd Goggie" 100% drop of royal jelly the much needed item for ya 99-100 synthesis Cursed Soup...took me about 23-30 Royal jellys to get to 99-100...so happy hunting :D

To an extent, and that is the break-even point. I'd actually be curious to see what the payback period would be for someone who took a craft to 100 using the most common AH or NPC sellable products. Obviously there's a lot of discrepancy based on breaks, varying AH prices, etc., but a rough number would provide some insight.
It depends on the craft. For fishing, the break even point, if you don't buy your lu shangs, is after about a day of fishing anything Nebimonite or higher...I paid 2mil for 5000 moat carp for my lu shangs. I make 2 mil easily within a week. I would have to say, I am way past my break even point.
For cooking, it say it would take maybe 2-3 weeks depending on what you made/sold and how much of it you made/sold.
The main 3 crafts, Gold smithing/smithing/cloth, I'd say it would take...months maybe? Alchemy wouldn't be too long..unless you ONLY bought the materials and didn't keep anything from parties etc. Leather...I'm not too sure of..maybe 2-3 months?

Yea, if I've got some time I'll probably make a spreadsheet for cooking and maybe fishing too.
one more question: which should i take to 100 first? I can buy a lu shangs right now imediatly for 3mil and go skill up, or I can just poor the funds into skillin up cooking.
you won't need a lu shangs until 50+...thats when you will notice a difference. The good part is, during each cap cycle, there is at least 1 profitable fish. Moat carp till 11 (i think) Yellow globe till 17-18 Nebimonite till 27 bluetail till 55 etc etc.
Also, you could fish using a halcyon rod and skillup till a lu shang is needed WHILE leveling cooking. This way you will make some money as you lose money >.> just incase you don't get break even synths

My mule has 91 cooking and id like to finish it to 100, what would be the best route to get the last 9 levels?

With 100 fishing and a Ebisu fishing rod, I think I can make pretty "good" gil.
Nothing insane, however in 3 months I was able to make all 42mil I needed to buy a Kraken club.
But that was mostly due to how many people where trying to make a Ebisu at the time, and I was fishing for hours every day.

Hedgehog pies till cap, 94 I think. Rice dumplings to 95 or you can start on those before you cap on hedgehog pies.
I then did some sea bass croute till 97ish. Sweet rice cakes which are a total pain because of a lack of mats on AH to 98-99, then red curry to 100.
I wouldn't bother with cursed soup since you can make red curry buns from the red curry which you can HQ and sell well. I made a profit out of it after wasting a ton of time farming royal jelly.
Hmm, that sounds good, would you farm King Truffle in the Nest or the Subterrane?

I farmed in the nest because my THF was pretty fail. Depending on price, I'd just buy them, the croute NPCs back for a fair bit and I don't think I lost much gil.

to make 5mil a day let's say you pull in all 200(Will never happen... EVER) they still need to sell for 25,000 each.

Have you ever tried to catch a Matsya? they are far from easy to pull up, I've never even caught one, and I have used at least 5 or 6 stacks of bait... Matsya sound good for profit but tbh they blow.
200 fish to pull in per day isn't hard for most fish, But once you get Ebisu rod and you start to catch Lik and Gugrusarus(The fish that bring in gil) you'll know, catching 200 of them in 1 day just pure and simple is not possible.
400k/day and 5mil/day are nothing close at all.

If you are catching dils and merc, I can see 260k a day, how are you making over 400k? o.o
And I think those fish that sell for 25k a piece are pretty much a pain in the *** to catch.
