New Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark software
I'm currently in alpha. It runs well, but gets a bit choppy with a lot of people on screen at once. I still don't trust the benchmark scores one bit.
How do I take a pic of the benchmark
Just a follow-up, I installed the new Catalyst 10.6 (I'm using a Radeon 57XX) and I can run the benchmark test now, it doesn't close on me after choosing a race and clicking start.
I got like a 2500 or so. Anyone running this with SLI or Crossfire enabled should disable it and try again. I know a lot of people had issues in the Alpha and most were solved doing so.
I should run this on my Dimension 3000 for laughs. ::EDIT::
Nevermind, found the answer myself. Tells me DATA Corrupt unable to run :(
Ok so I updated my drivers, same result. Around 1830 on the test score...(still calling BS on it.)
The interesting part: While watching my CPU, processing speed peaked, only twice, at 1.87GHz. So its not even utilizing the full 2.67GHz the processor is capable of. Not a clue as to why. I'll have to run it once more, this time while watching CPU usage itself. My Alienware M15x got around 1300~ Can't quite remember the exact number.
I thought it was weird hearing the Characters talk. :P WTF...
When i run the Benchmark... I get sounds and the scoreboard at the bottom but i get no picture, just a blank black screen. :/ Anyone know whats going on here? My graphics card is x2 512MB cards combined (NVIDIA Geforce 7950 GX2), with 2GB of RAM and a Duo Core AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (2.61Ghz) and I'm getting nothing but a black screen during the benchmark while it's testing. Guessing this means my current computer is too lame to run it. ![]() this is in the High settings This is on my 1st gaming pc will post when I try my other one So I tried to read all the comments to this but 10 pages is a bit much.. Just in case no one else posted this, From what I have seen any AMD processor is going to score poorly. Also I don't think Radeon vid cards are registering correctly. I have a AMD Phenom II quad core processor and I still scored 679.
![]() ![]() yea i scored 1797 on low...... with 7.1 score on processor and ram, 6.9 on the graphics and 5.9 on HDD, i rekon its the HDD letting me down, lol i remember on 1 game was really slow the second i put a new hard drive in it was totally smooth, SE prolly want us to get Solid state drives ahahahahaha!
Scored 2575
Built the PC back in '07. 64bit - Vista Intel Core Duo @2.33Ghz 2.33Ghz 5g Ram Nvidia GeForce gts 250 *edit: low res High Res, and only 1 GIG of ram lolol.... not bad seems to favor AMD's :D
![]() What is a FF game without something going *terribly wrong* on a boat trip? And there is the obligatory chocobo butt at the end, as well. I think SE gets excited at the sneaky prospect of getting players to look at chocobo butts whenever they can. But honestly the benchmark is made by Nvidia no? So I suspect their scoring system is designed to make users "need" to purchase a GTX 480 for $500 USD. And if they happen to have a GTX 480, it encourages them to buy another and SLI them together. And also buy one for all their friends. And their parents, just in case. Like really now, SE is running a Alpha quality game and a benchmark is release telling people how their game would run? Don't be fooled, wait a little bit and see if there happens be any updates on this benchmark or the game itself. Don't forget that once the game gets release it will perform better, you can change the resolution, your can enable/disable effects, and all that goody registry tweaks you can do. Also the final system requirements will be released when the game is near release. Plus if your in the market in upgrading your hardware your better off waiting till the prices go down a bit (which is gonna happen anyway when the new stuff pops up). tldr; Benchmark is flawed and the results you see are not to be what they seem. Prices on hardware will drop, etc, etc... The important thing to remember in this test is that the 8000+ is perfect IF you're using windowed mode and expect 60 FPS. If you can get 30 FPS in fullscreen (Roughly 2000 on the grading scale), then it's going to run just as well as FFXI did.
Edit: And this is a cutscene. The game itself has a toned down graphic overall, so it will still run better outside of cutscenes. ok people, 1st time i ran this i belive it was BS, 1797 and i have a quad core Ge force 9800 GTX+ and high scorings, but i did the new driver update from nvidia (do it if you havnt) and Defraged my HDD, trust it make a HUGE difference as i scored 3023..... after those 2 little changes, also once it comes out fullscreen will increase performance yet again, so there is no need to upgrade PCs unless u have a REALLY bad one (im talking intel P4s etc) or a laptop, wht isnt rly top class ; ;
lets just hope the final product has more than 2 resolution options!! xD
that would really be wtf after some overclocking of gfx card I could break 5k on high weeeee

Hume has no more hands and legs and some of the clothes ingame are very VERY shiny white.
Anyone knows whats going on? ![]() there my Other PC stats. 1k more not bad Totally waiting for a new benchmark file. This is just mindblowing. And I know it's not the fact of running XP, since someone else with XP got a score over 3000. And I've seen computers in this thread with way lower specs than me reaching way higher scores. BTW, running in High res gave about 394 points. Even with the low scores, the benchmark ran smoothly, so the real score is more in the eye of the beholder on this one. Ouch. my computer fails. Guess an upgrade is needed, or I'll just use my PS3.
scored 1460 on low settings Athlon 64X2 4600+ Dual Core EVGA 8800GTS 320 MB WinXP 4 GB Kingston HyperX RAM (XP only sees 3.2GB) I scored a 3870 on low settings. Not too bad but i didn't break 4000 like i wanted :(
