anyone who just watched E3 on spike, now knows the xbox slim was just announced and will be in stores as early as next week! any thoughts? improvements? let me know what yall think

The built in Wi-fi is the only saving grace imo.

They'd have to lower prices and have more reliable hardware with a more sustainable cooling system to make this even remotely appealing.

Another good point Weewoo. The original Xbox 360 has heating issues, packing it into a smaller and less ventilated casing will only hurt the life time expectancy of the console.

Kinetic is a horrible name also, Natal sounded far better.

Didn't the original Xbox 360 have something ridiculous like a 63% out-of-box failure rate? They would have to make huge strides in hardware reliability to make this work, otherwise I just see another brick with a big price tag in the making.

Not a fan of the redesign. They should have just saved their money because this Kinect is going to FLOP and it's going to hurt.

Actually, the technology used for Natal, was originally offered to Nintendo but they turned it down and Microsoft jumped on the opportunity. I see it as a brilliant business opportunity that Nintendo will be kicking themselves for if it turns out as great as they're making it out to be.
But isn't a fair amount of stuff today just copied from other things and slightly modified? I think the most original thing I have seen in say.. a week is a list of 20 phones that were extremely out of place.

Meh, the design for the slim is really plane jane. Aesthetically I liked the original since it had that nifty hourglass figure and looked decent standing up or lying down. This new one took box a little too literal.

Still am not impressed, they could have done so much more, but yet they didn't ... hard drive? I can probably buy a drive 5x as big for less then Microsoft will probably offer them as "upgrades"
Are the hard drives even interchangeable? If not it's just yet another negative thing.
I used to have a 360, had it for awhile, but I ended up selling it because everything I wanted to do with it always had some stupid cost to it or I had to buy some stupid piece to use it.

I dunno, it doesn't look much different other than applying sharper angles on the edges and adding a slightly more appealing ventilation grill on the side. But really, that's a piss poor design change. Is that supposed to be the "elite"?
