I'm sort of lost. I've come to rely on a little bit of outside opinion, since a lot of the upgrades and changes to make aren't obvious at this point anymore (to me.) But I'm also trying to work this out on my own. My catch is that they're not always agreeing.

One of the best sets that I can come up with is:

But strangely (I think?) with Impetus up, it still came out on top of Tantra +2 body... which seemed incorrect to me. And, I couldn't get any combo that included Oce+1 head.

Is it because of the buffs I'm entering? (RCB, Haste, Focus, Impetus [or not, depending on set], and berserk) Is there something I'm just not seeing/understanding? Or maybe something is wrong with the sheet? Or... maybe I'm just not tracking the thread right, and some of the answers were responses to some people's specific situations. I'm lost, though - I do know that.

I don't think I'm asking for specific advice - there's been tons of that here already. I just want to sort out why I don't seem to be coming to the same conclusions as people like Nightfyre, Jinjo and Austar.

Edit: Or else I am only looking at the TP damage, and not seeing if/when I shave off a hit before 100 TP. Still dunno.

Thaumas legs really beats af3+2? The loss in +7 kick doesnt seem worth it, unless im over estimating the usefulness of kick attacks. Just seem losing the extra KA would also lessen the value of af3+2 feet.

Yeah that doesn't seem right, and that also don't match with what I see around town. I'm just sort of venturing into the spreadsheed world, so all this is based on that. Idk what to trust/believe for sure, really.

But yeah, with AF3 legs and feet, kicks seem pretty significant. :\ So confused.

You're just about correct..

Attack not capped:

Use Hagneia Stone if using Verethragna.

Attack capped:

Thaumas legs are only winning if you're fully benefiting from that 4ACC (somehow I doubt they are even then..? I'm too sleepy for more math atm).

Oh, and Nomkahpa Mitts > *. I just still haven't managed to get my hands on a pair. -_-

That's why I'm confused though - I see those sets, but I also see what's the sheet's giving me. But yeah, I like my flaming pants better anyway :P

And I guess the STP must make the difference, too. (Now that I think about it, capped or uncapped, you wouldn't bother changing it if it didn't.)

Thanks!

If the sheet is using a higher evasion VW mob (Pil+) as a target, your accuracy won't be capped unless it defaults to having a lot of accuracy buffs. 2% hit rate -could- be enough to put them ahead. Like I said, too tired for math and I know I've been capped on accuracy with appropriate buffs in AF3+2 pants so moot point anyways.

That must be it -- was actually using Pil. I guess I should mess around with ALL of the variables a little more before opening my... keyboard.

Why not Thaumas head for crit rate? And why the Hagnia Stone for TP? Sorry just trying to get caught up on all the new crazes.

Well, I don't have any Thaumas or Athos gear, so I might start w/ the Tantra version, get Thaumas, then work towards Athos. :)

Gotta remember to keep looking at your guys' sets, though, since... you know, they're already there.

No haste is the main reason. And hagneia with +2 pants and rajas ring with vere gives you a very nice 5.5 TP instead of 5.3, enough to make your WS frequency pass up the 12 attack you'd get from potestas. Vere only though.

Whoops. Missed the haste on Athos.

That's only for fodder mobs though, correct? Neo-Nyzul and the like.

Capped attack in general, fodder would use thaumas feet, if not capped attack.

No COR or BRD, what does that include for MNK? Relevant end-game stuff, I mean.

Was looking for an instance where this set would be viable without a BRD or COR, that's all. Nyzul is the only thing I can think of. And Dynamis.

In nyzul I use:

With thaumas feet when berserk is down.

When berserk is up.

Red Curry + Berserk is enough to cap on the fodder mobs, on NMs and floor bosses I put Tantra +2 back on my uncapped attack set.

Along the above lines, I was thinking possibly using a nomkapha mittens+thaumaus head set if I could ever find a pair of mittens on my server. Although it would only by 25% listed haste.

Edit: Also, Seiryu's kote w/ crit/stp seem like they might be decent contenders.
