if it's just those areas that are super freaky then that's probably fine. and i agree there are some stunning visuals.
looking forward to more areas like the parish and the darkroot garden/forest/etc.. beautiful with a strong mood but nothing completely-fracking-disgusting walking around. blech.
is it an often used area? i've read that some areas or at least some bosses are optional. the more completely-fracking-disgusting i can avoid, the better chances i finish the game.
Blighttown is a MUST go to area. For a beginner to the game, progression should go Taurus Demon / Gargoyles / Capra Demon / Gaping Dragon / Quelaag / Iron Golem / Smough + Ornstein.
then pick your poison (order) on the remaining 4 before the final boss.
Sif > Four Kings
Ceaseless Discharge / Demon Firesage / Centipede Demon / Bed of Chaos
Seath the Scaleless
Pinwheel / Nito
Lord Gwynn.
If you have ANY questions about the game message me on xbox live Deliriumonsiren
Also that really only leaves 1 boss 3 bosses as truly optional. The Moonlight Butterfly, Priscilla, Stray Demon
I need some help with Seath the Scaleless on PC. I've been trying to get summoned as a phantom/summon a phantom but to no avail, nobody seems to drop any summon signs anywhere.
The first and only time I got summoned, the host died 5 seconds into entering the boss area.
What the hell did this guy do? I got summoned into Seath and the boss was dead in 3 seconds flat
Seath is REALLY squishy. You just need to kill his immortality crystal (if you're fighting in Crystal Caves - you can't win in Archives) and then you can absolutely slaughter him. You should cut off his tail for the greatsword though (and this is actually semi challenging).
EDIT: Also, those screenshots are amazing.
The game might look dingy now, but wait until you hit Anor Londo at person above! Breathtaking.
I was very surprised the other time I was playing dark souls. I decided I would beat the catacombs before beating the gargoyle...and well he's a badass when you're weak @.@;
I'm looking for a good picture of Dark Anor Londo for completion's sake but can't find a good one... PvPing in that area and stalking/being stalked by people in the utter silence and intense atmosphere though... it's incredible.
That one's pretty good. I wanted one from inside the O&S boss room with the eerie green light pooling in the windows and everywhere around you - utter darkness.
The "easy mode" thing was a translation error. He also stated he has absolutely no intention of putting an easy mode into Dark Souls or any future Soul games that may be created..
Poise Break Points
Please note that some weapons do not obey this. E.g. the hand axe does not break 21 poise.
It has been found that certain weapon classes will stun people at very specific poise amounts. For example Ultra Greatswords, when used 2 handed, will stun anyone at 75 poise or less. So a poise of 76 will prevent you being stunlocked by a hit from an UGS. However these values will only save you from 1 hit. If you are hit again before your "poise bar" empties completely you will be stunned. The values listed are for 2 handed attacks, the values in the brackets refer to 1 handed attacks.
76 poise (51 for 1-handed resists):
All Ultra Greatswords 2h R1s
All Great Axes 2h R1s
All Great Blunt 2h R1s
53 poise (36 for 1-handed resists):
All Great Asian Swords 2h R1s
All Great Swords 2h R1s
All 1-handed Blunts 2h R1s
All 1-handed Axes 2h R1s
31 poise (21 for 1-handed resists):
All Asian Sword 2h R1s (and R2 in the case of Shotel)
All 1-handed Sword 2h R1s
All Katana 2h R1s (including Washing Pole)
All Great Scythe 2h R1/R2s
All Whip 2h R1s
All Large Spear (Partisan/Pike) 2h R1s
All Small Spear (Silver Spear/Winged Spear) 2h R1s
All Halberd/Pole 2h R1s (figured this would have been 53, but it wasn't).
8 poise (6 poise for 1-hand resists, or Fist Weapons):
All Rapier 2h R1s
All Dagger 2h R1s
All Fist Weapons R1s (although this is actually 6 since you can't 2-hand a Fist Weapon)
Armor of Thorns is much better than I'd ever thought. Practically makes it impossible to be Chain Stabbed (and interrupts some Back Stabs) via roll damage and can also make breaking poise easier. Grass Crest Shield for the stamina regeneration. I wanted to try a somewhat heavier build than I typically do. For this build, you typically stay right in the enemies face and tear into them, hopefully causing them to bleed out.
Great Combustion is mostly used for punishing parry spammers, provides great chip damage too. Can also dead angle in some cases. Fire Tempest is the superior AoE Pyromancy and useful for taking on gankers. Power Within is obviously for the damage boost.
Ascended Flame +5 for damaging Pyromancy. Base level Pyromancy Flame for minimum HP drain from Power Within. Upgrading the Flame does nothing for damage boost at all.

His curse resistance could have been extremely low also. Very important to have decent curse resist for that fight. It is the 1 thing that'll sneak up and instantly kill you.
Breaking his immortality crystal will stun him temporarily, so if you can lure him into breaking it himself it'll give you a great opportunity to cut off his tail.
best video to watch to learn how to cut off the tail easily.

DWGR is nerfed down to less than or equal 25% equip load in order to get the ninja flip. So I'd advise using a different off ring if you're still gonna use FaP. Also when the DLC is available they fixed the bug that makes you lose more life per tick with an upgraded flame

This is not a universal member name > gamertag list for entire site. Only list your name if you own Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls I, Dark Souls II, or Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, or plan to, this way members of the site can coordinate playing together, matchmaking, etc.
After you click the link, the only thing you'll need to do is click "EDIT IN BROWSER", then add your FORUM name, then the gamertag/username for the platform you play the game on. Please do not copy and paste a cell, this will cause borders to look weird and I'll have to open it up to fix it.
