Who the hell uses a mouse for FFXI? Like, really? PC or otherwise. You can do everything on a keyboard. Literally everything, it's not like WoW or most MMOs these days where you need a mouse.

Every update always takes at least 90 minutes. Most likely has to do with powering down and powering up the servers.
It's also a buffer they give themselves, sometime they are done rebooting servers sooner than announced and make the game available right away, sometime not.
Some people are really dense in this thread.
As for performing correctly with a mouse, well, I have seen a certain player play with a mouse and I can say that he destroys about 99% of the playerbase in term of accuracy, speed and overall quality in his gameplay, he's known for that anyway. You need to be less narrow minded, especially when you are kinda average yourself.
I'm a keyboard guy but honestly, I wouldn't bash a mouse, gamepad is way worse objectively speaking yet, it doesn't mean anything.

Apparently they broke Tidal Talisman too! WOOOOOOO. Heard it does like when you try to nexus to an area you cant, charges to 10% then stops. Even from both Aht Urhgan and Al Zahbi (im sure they didnt try any other areas).

Playing since NA release with a mouse and damn it they better fix this ***. F a keyboard that ***for macros only lol.
My way of playing:
Keyboard numpad for movement, autorun, mob selecting and walk/run toggle. Macros and chat (obviously).
Mouse for camera control as well as targetting big mobs.
Is this issue just for controlling your character or does it effect camera controls too? I haven't bothered to log in yet.

I can understand PC players but why are ps2 players getting a maint for the mouse Oo.

Like has been mentioned, mouse input is client side. I'm sure they are patching some major bug. Maybe NeoNyzul bosses weren't supposed to double drop, etc.

I didn't like the tor climb on a gamepad I'd hate to try it keyboard onry.
do you know how hard is moving the camera + running/using macros at the same time with a keyboard? just no no no no no no no

I don't know how people use a mouse/keyboard combination for gaming. Not just this game but all other PC games, I just can't deal with it. Obviously we have to use a keyboard for typing (inB4 smart arse comments) but moving etc is horrible!
Controllers are they way forward, I use my 360 for FFXI but I have a wired pad for my PC.
Has anyone else noticed on the select character screen, the gold ends that are on the name labels of your characters have gone really 64bit and blocky? I wonder if that will be fixed because it never used to look like that before the update.

The mouse is the best kept secret in FFXI. All those times you got out-claimed... it wasn't bots! It was the mouse users who simply had to click on the NM rather than tabbing through the NQ mob spam to get to it. :D:D:D:D
Seriously though, it's the only time I use my mouse in the game. So much better than tabbing through a million squibs while trying to target Heqet.

It's quite easy actually, Keyboard imo is best way to play, shortcuts and macros are so much faster than scrolling, although you can still scroll if you would like from a keyboard, it's still much better with control options.

edit: you still don't do it that way with keyboard onry...
I like how this has been on the test server for a little while now and they just now notice such a problem after implementing it.
