Defending Hitler's rule... this thread works wonders.

New rule of the internet, if you find yourself defending Hitler, stop arguing, you've lost.
Who defended Hitler again? What was stated that defended Hitler or his government system?

This is a simple concept Altima.

You associated 1984 as a tyrant system, when it was ruled by a totalitarian government.

You then gave an example (Hitler which was not being discussed) and told me that was what I was saying.

I was wrong about Hitler. He was a dictator in an authoritarian government as it did not control all aspects of society (e.g. Economic), which is what totalitarian governments do.

You are quite right, very simple concept. 1984 can be associated with a tyrant system.

Not to mention you are wrong, once again about nazi germany...
Quote:
Nazi Germany and the Third Reich are common names for the German Reich from 1933 to 1945, when it was under control of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party (NSDAP). Under Hitler's rule, Germany was transformed into a fascist totalitarian state which controlled nearly all aspects of life.

Hell, you said this a few posts ago.

Other than argue with me, be a nitpick, and try to put words into my mouth. Is their a point you are trying to make or do you finally understand the similarities?
1984 did not have a tyrant, it had a political party that was in charge. "Big brother" was everyone in the government watching you.

A totalitarian state controls ALL aspects of society. Hitler wanted to control most aspects, or like your quote stated "nearly all aspects". For example, he allowed and defended private property, just not for (his defination of) undesirables.

Maybe it's just cause I woke up, but it seems to me he clearly wanted to control all aspects of life.

Quote:
Hitler's views on economics, beyond his early belief that the economy was of secondary importance, are a matter of debate. On the one hand, he proclaimed in one of his speeches that "we are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system", but he was clear to point out that his interpretation of socialism "has nothing to do with Marxian Socialism," saying that "Marxism is anti-property; true Socialism is not." At a later time, Hitler said: "Socialism! That is an unfortunate word altogether... What does socialism really mean? If people have something to eat and their pleasures, then they have their socialism."

In private, Hitler also said that "I absolutely insist on protecting private property... we must encourage private initiative". On yet another occasion he qualified that statement by saying that the government should have the power to regulate the use of private property for the good of the nation. Shortly after coming to power, Hitler told a confidant: "There is no license any more, no private sphere where the individual belongs to himself. That is socialism, not such trivial matters as the possibility of privately owning the means of production. Such things mean nothing if I subject people to a kind of discipline they can't escape...What need have we to socialize banks and factories? We socialize human beings".

He clearly believed that the lack of a precise economic programme was one of the Nazi Party's strengths, saying: "The basic feature of our economic theory is that we have no theory at all." While not espousing a specific economic philosophy, Hitler employed anti-semitic themes to attack economic systems in other countries, associating ethnic Jews with both communism ("Jewish Bolsheviks") and capitalism, both of which he opposed.

Hitler also believed that individuals within a nation battled with each other for survival, and that such ruthless competition was good for the health of the nation, because it promoted "superior individuals" to higher positions in society. At Berchtesgaden Hitler held his final speech, drafted by Albert Speer, in front of an audience. He emphasised the "self-responsibility of industry". After the won war "private initiative of German business will experience its greatest moment", and Hitler expressed his belief in "the further development of humanity through the promotion of private initiative, in which alone I see the precondition for all real progress."

He didn't follow either extreme capitalism or extreme communisim, nor did he advocate complete autarky (with regards to imports).

It's really summed up by this "The basic feature of our economic theory is that we have no theory at all."

Either you are pointing out the similarities or you are defending Hitler and his government. You're also forgetting about the Jews.. how many of them had private property protected, or anyone else that stood in Hitlers way?

It's possible to have a totalitarian government without a proper tyrant. You have some top leader group fighting for political influences and power and a single dude in the top chair who might or might not have any say in any matter of importance. The term puppet comes to mind.

It's possible to have a tyrant in a democratic government provided that the tyrant is politically powerful and influential enough. It's impossible to have governments without some sort of politics which would involve some sort of horse trading. Tyrants have a tendency to ignore normal horse trading and go for the hammer.

Regardless, tyrants have a tendency to ignore the social norm and resistances then do what they want because they can. Good tyrant (might or might not be a good person) usually have a good reason to do what they do. They can be very Machiavelli about it though. I think old George Washington was pretty close to that. "Yer be enemy of the states? Slaughter their peasants and burn their villages! Can't have them running around at our backs when we're busy killing these rebels." "Ye're not paying taxes? Have a taste of this cannon here!"

I'm nitpicking, exactly the same thing Kara has done to start this insanity. Can you not follow a thread? Need someone to hold your hand and give you the play by play? Try to understand what is going on before you ask if people can read.

One Last thing. I was going to go in to a big rant but people don't seem to have brains enough to see what is going on. There are some silly jokes in this because of what the charecter is but he does make a great point. Way better rant then what I can come up with.

No, we do have the brains to see what's going on. See, there's a big difference between the conspiracy theorists (you) and everyone else. The conspiracy theorists look for any and every single discrepancy and automatically, without any critical thinking and analysis, automatically assume links between events.

Like how you linked autism with vaccines. Which you based your entire reasoning by one later discredited study of a later discredited doctor when many other doctors try to recreate the research and analysis and not only could not show a link between the two, but actually disproved any possible link between the two.

To a conspiracy theorist, all it takes is one event. To everyone else, when the event is shown to be wrong, they do not continue to spout the same nonsense that a conspiracy theorists does.

So, in essence, it's the conspiracy theorist (aka, you), who fail to use their brains for anything more than being a parrot. Congratulations, now here's a cracker:

Just have one question for you. What would it take to convince you that you are wrong? If you found that some of your sources were playing games with the numbers or it was found out that they were intentionally misleading people would you change your mind?

I'm just curious.

same question directed at you sekundes. The thing though is establishment has been caught lying and covering up facts to the public yet you have put so much faith in them. It a shame ryan is a canadian and not a us citizen we could have one more informed voter to stop voting for republicans and democrats. God bless you ryan.

The thing that pisses me off more is that in that link thats our own citizens being affected Sekundes. Real people possible future disease curers and innovators to make our troubled world less troubled. Instead they are victims damaged for the rest of their lives some are dead even. They need people to remember them, i'll take up that call. They will never be forgotten in a better america.
