BST Gear Sets

I like the 3% DA on Otomi because I think it'd reap more benefit generally, particularly against mid-to-low level fodder enemies where the additional accuracy on Yaoyotl is completely wasted.

The key thing I guess is its a lot about how you choose to play BST and what sort of stuff you are fighting typically. My experience is that pet accuracy is now typically lower than master accuracy (particularly if you are using pre-adoulin jugs), and my feeling is that if you need to max that stat you'll be spending a lot of time snarling hate back onto the pet and healing because it won't be doing enough to hold hate.

I suspect its a style-thing as much as anything; I understand the benefits to dps of 7% DW on Skadi+1 but given how much def and pdt you are giving up versus Iuitl and what that means in terms of time spent waltzing off damage and snarling... I prefer to take a more conservative approach.

For me, BST is not a job where durability should be sacrificed for dps. You may not agree with my approach, but as I'm building purely for solo play its not impacting anyone but myself.

I doubt there is anything a BST will tend to fight these days where Yaoyotl will out-do Otomi.

Replace body and legs with Skadi +1 is an option, but in my eyes ugly as hell... ^^

Don't have Delve boss axe yet.

If your pet is out while you're TP'ing you will want the +2 legs for "Stout Servant +1"

This decreases damage taken by pet.

This is a pure Master onry set.

A hybrid set don't make much sense in my eyes, because every piece you replace weaks you more than your pet gets stronger.
Only exception might be belt or hands with pet Haste.

I'm trying to put together an optimal Onslaught set. I've been plugging things into the spreadsheet and I have this coming out on top against delve fodder type mobs.

Do Windbuffet Belt and Path C Xaddi feet increase your average WS dmg on the spreadsheet? The difference is incredibly minor, but those're a couple more options. :)

Windbuffet does! I'm glad because wanion belt isn't something i'd be able to aquire easily. Ituii still beats out xaddi c path though.

I've been using this for Ruinator: BST (master) shouldn't really be engaging anything too powerful, so this seemed like more than enough to pump out some solid numbers. Both Xaddi pieces are Path A Rank 15.

Also, on an unrelated note, is anyone actually able to keep hate on their pet anymore? It seems like an exercise in futility to me at this point... I can snarl and then 2 seconds later I've got enmity again -_-

That's strange. I have no issues keeping enmity on my pets; however, there are fickle BC's where hate is wonky (Celestial Nexus comes to mind).

I see you already have Anahera Tabar. Adding this should help with your pet enmity+ build.

Your average Ruinator damage would increase by almost 800 (4584 -> 5367 vs. Delve fodder target) if you used elemental gorget/belt combo. :D Cheers!

What are some shield choices for BST these days?

I'm looking at messing around with the fencer trait and want to try some different subjobs that aren't DNC or NIN.

I think you listed all of the major contenders.

So when MDT/Haste aren't needed, Kaidate ftw!

I think that's the best we can get with the current gear. If I've missed anything or if you know of any gear combinations that will do higher please let me know.

Are any of the Moonshade earring augments worth using for bst these days?

Just looking at your reward set here and I was wondering, does the MND on Regimen Mittens beat the 10% reward on Ogre Gloves?

Also, why no AF3 earring?

Totemic Jackcoat (+20%) and Ankusa Gaiters +1 (+35%) already cap your Reward potency at +50% so it's better to cram MND into your ear and hand slots. :)

Like Magic Damage +3 is just 3 extra base damage, not 3% overall dmg.

The best I would say for the Moonshade is a Master Only earring as there are no PET augments on it. I'd suggest ACC +4 TP +25 for your Weapon Skills.

To my knowledge and I am agreeing with Fal here that it is %, so no need for the Earring, or Ogre. +MND is the way to go for more bang for your buck for each Food you use with Reward.

Now this nasty rumor of Empy Gear Reforge starting in June... I wonder what will be required to upgrade that.

Here's some Reward potency testing to clear up the ambiguous notation:
used 2 Pet Food Zeta, one naked, and one with just the Ankusa Gaiters +1.

1st Zeta: 1005 HP recovered
2nd Zeta: 1405 HP recovered

Base MND = 80

Formula for Pet Food Zeta:
Start MND = 45
Rate = 768
Const = 900

Base = floor( (MND-Start MND)×Rate÷256 ) + Const
Base = floor( (80 - 45) × 768 ÷ 256 ) + 900
Base = 1005

So the 1st naked Zeta works out perfectly - and then with Ankusa Gaiters +1 (they have MND+12 on them):

Base = floor( (92 - 45) × 768 ÷ 256 ) + 900
Base = 1041

Total = floor(Base×Potency)
Total = floor(1041 × 1.35)
Total = floor(1405.35)
Total = 1405

So yeah, even though they don't list the "%" in the description, Ankusa Gaiters +1 give Reward Potency +35%. I guess that's just the notation they felt like using with the new reforged BST gear.

The TP on the earring as I understand it would function sort of like the elemental gorgets and belts applying the TP to each hit, which IMHO would be better than some STR earring, but if you want a slight boost in damage and lose the +4 ACC take the +4 ATT instead.

TP bonus for Ruinator only affects accuracy. Best in slot would be Brutal and Kokou's earring followed closely by Steelflash and Bladeborn earrings if you need accuracy.

Does Iuitl +1 with perfect augments beat Felistris?

I have Felistris winning in both sets over perfect augmented Iuitl +1 head.
