imma be building a charm set it seems now XD
The Abyssea burned BSTs will actually have to learn how to play a different style now, what will become of them?!
They'll metamorphasize into.. the same thing they are now.

Yeah, if you're good at the job it obviously makes a difference, but there is no difference when it comes to charming other than pre-abyssea will probably have charm sets already. Even then, we'll see how that goes because jug pets still provide certain aspects that charmed pets cannot until we do more testing to verify otherwise (TH on dipper and falcorr, etc.). for me it's not so much harder than jug pet spam it was the total freedom of having an entire zone as your weapon
Quote: for me it's not so much harder than jug pet spam it was the total freedom of having an entire zone as your weapon Very True, Jug pets are not as strong as charmed mobs of higher level as well. This will allow BST once again to solo things not many other jobs could even dream of attempting. Rala Waterways, underneath the city, is filled with Charmable mobs in the T~VT range. Bats, crabs, leeches, spiders, pugils, efts, slimes...
Also, mini-Krabkatoa! Edit: Slugs are in the zone as well. Even though I never play BST I always thought it was a little unfair for BST not to be able to charm in abyssea. This is pretty cool to read about.
thank god. real bsts can return!
charm? where do i get scroll of charm for my bst?!

Do you really wanna lose the ability to tell your mob exactly what move to use :<

Like what? Enuyasha said: » Do you really wanna lose the ability to tell your mob exactly what move to use :< yes as the DPS of a VT pet is considerbly higher than a Jug pet. Not to mention their HP is higher than jug pets ( I find pets have about 5k and charmed mobs in aldoulin about 7-8k ) Not to mention the content is harder so a EM pet vs a VT won't last very long, the idea of BST solo isn't about killing fast, its about safety, and using irritating mobs as cannon fodder Cerberus.Conagh said: » Enuyasha said: » Do you really wanna lose the ability to tell your mob exactly what move to use :< yes as the DPS of a VT pet is considerbly higher than a Jug pet. Fantasize all you want, BST pre-Abyssea took far more skill than you know or probably possess. If you disagree, it's because your standards are aligned with everyone else who thinks gear swap macros and R/E/M weapons make them skilled.

But charmed pets do allow solos that jug pets do not. With jug pets, you are riding your Reward and Call Beast timers. With charmed mobs, you have an endless army to throw against an NM. Of course, it brings the risk of mischarms, but I find it more exciting to play the old way. Throwing fodder pets at something til it eventually dies an hour later wasn't especially difficult.

So glad charming is back!

You had to worry about mischarms and you had to anticipate when you needed to switch pets. It was definitely a bit harder than the Abyssea model of putting a Dipper/Falcorr/Nazuna on something and just using Reward when your timer was up. |
