I think the biggest crime here is that the cat lacks a little scarf and aviator glasses.

I can't even begin to dismantle the hilarity of so many attempting to logically argue how respectful something is or isn't.

Respect is a universal concept that strays out ad infinitum for each and every sentient creature. The only logic-related aspect of the argument in question is how little most of you understand about what you're arguing about.

The relevant facts are these:

1) The cat is dead, and as such lacks the ability to possess anything, including but not limited to the corpse it previously inhabited. This would apply to a human just as readily as it would to a feline.

2) There is no law against this manner of taxidermy.
You forgot that a flying cat is awesome.

I'm inclined to agree, but I acknowledge that deep-seeded ideas like morality and respect are often adopted out of continuity and tradition, and are subsequently difficult to see as the arbitrary constructs that they are by the majority. In the interest of maintaining a legitimate list of facts, I left that little foot-note out.

this whole thread is very odd.

i have a cat, which looks similar. and the sight of this got me instantly depressed.

the thought of keeping you beloved pet beside you for the rest of your life is an admirable abmition

however, saying that, this is also extremely morbid. when you love an animal, their parting is normally varying degrees of sad. but for me, i wouldnt be able to do this without reliving that loss every time i looked at it.

knowing that my cat is now a toy that will never purr, wont lick my hand to greet me, wont be warm. in just gets me very upset. that is me though, not everyone would react that way.

also consider this. how upset would you be if your cat copter crashed and got damaged. that would be like it dying all over again.

not that i done understand the point of taxidermy, but i have always had issues with it. my dad hunted and when i was young i had nightmares of the bears on the walls coming to life and killing me.

i think people often take things for granted, but this is an unhealthy way to show love for a pet. this is a perfect place for the expression "if you love it, let it go"

Humanity is worthless? News to me. I'm pretty sure it's worth a great deal to us humans. Last time I checked nature doesn't give two s*its about preserving ecosystems either. I know there are likely hundreds of "natural" events which have extinguished far more species than ugly meany mankind ever could.

You avoided answering what makes up human value.

Value isnt real.

Its a made up concept, that cannot be defined. We use it because it makes the lives that we evolved into more simple.

Value of organisms in an ecosystem can and is defined by contributions to the ecosystem. Its done all the time by ecologists. Like i had posted early humans value is very little. And it can be mathematically approximated. Humans produce 900 grams of CO2 daily. Also the human's mass can determine the contributions of Ca,P,Mg and other substances to soil.

Expect when the sun begins to die, becomes a red giant and incinerates the Earth.

Then your made-up values for the things that were once on the Earth mean jack.

Made-up values? How are actual figures based on chemical byproducts that contribute to an ecosystem "made-up." Actually they dont mean jack. Even in your hypothetical situation.

Don't think they're gonna be ready for a few years yet. And we have no carriers either, iirc.

For a country that ruled the skies not so long ago, we're pretty piss-poor at the moment :(

And that is your opinion. Other cultures would scold you for wasting time having pets and still others would wonder why you have pets instead of having children.

If this guy wants to express love for his cat by making a helicopter out of the remains then so be it. The pet is dead and what is done with a corpse is a personal decision. Perhaps the joy so many people are having from this thread was his intention or maybe he simply decided to do something fun with his pets remains rather than mulling around weeping over the inevitable.

I wonder how long before someone mechanizes a lost pet.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic cat. Sugar Lumpkins will be that cat. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

I don't know if it has been pointed out yet, but in taxidermy they just use the hide of the animal. not the carcass. Also i don't know what people are angry about. that he got his cat stuffed or that he gave it the ability to fly? >.>

either way its just difference of opinions on trivial matters.
