Another Set Advice Thread

My Dragoon's been a work in progress for a while and I'd like to get some opinions on which slots I can change up to get the most cost-effective improvement, or just correct me on some dumb stuff that I shouldn't be doing.

TP:

Currently trying to keep a true 5-hit, 20 TP per strike. Dunno if that's wise, but it's what I'm working with at the moment.

WS:

Any major improvements to be made upon this WS set for Drakesbane? Aside from Heca Leggings +1 w/ +4 Str/Polearm skill.

Moonshade Earring with Attack +4 TP Bonus +25 should pull out ahead of Ghillie Earring +1 for Drakesbane, given the +crit rate boost it'd give.

Assuming I exped DRG for fun and VW only and its not my main, What can I easy upgrade from my sets?

Am I overshooting STP for a 6 hit? Should I put more haste? Or should seek for a 5hit build?

I think Pole Grip might do more for you since you're using Stardiver rather than Drakesbane. Don't quote me on that though.

TP set needs more haste. Consider getting Ace's Hose or...one of the augmented dom ops pants can get you some more haste(can't remember the name). AF3 +2 feet and bullwhip belt are also options, but will probably require you to tweak the rest of your build to maintain your x-hit. Blitz Ring is also a thing.

Plug in your weapon delay, sub SAM or not, and then hit okay. Remember the number. Put in the STP you currently have equipped into the rolls section and it'll show you what you'd have. Your WS is that amount +1 for however many hits past one there are. A true x-hit is WS + (x-1) = > 100% TP

Only need 10 STP as /SAM for 6 hit, so I made this one with capped haste, what u think?

thats not capped haste

due to rounding errors you need to have 26% in gear to cap haste at a real 25%


use aces hose instead and you should be cap'ed on haste though

I'd suggest getting an OAT Polearm over (I assume) WS DMG Sixgill. Phorcys hands beat AF3+2 for WS, and I believe AF3+2 beat Ogiers, but I'm not 100% on that bit AF3+2 legs beat Ogiers.

And I guess if you want to be picky, theres an Attack 9 earring now.

If you do change to OAT Polearm your TP set will need remaking~.

What are peoples thoughts on fortis mantle for Stardiver?

I haven't done any testing, but to quote your "logic."

If Ghillie Earring +1 [9 atk] is > Vulcan's Pearl [4 str]
Then... Atheling Mantle [20 atk, 3 DA] is > Fortis Mantle [6 str]

To elaborate, as with all things it will end up being situational. In situations where the mob has low defense stacking Strength will win. Against the majority of VW mobs or other high defense mobs, Attack will be the way to go.

I have a 5 hit with this when accounting from leftover TP from WS thus I don't think I need Phorcys Head(AF3+2 has more attack) or Tyrant's Ring(The STP is overkill I think)

Besides Ganesha Mala what else could I use?

I want a 5-hit . Ogier gloves are for /war (+36stp and vwnm atma). For /sam have Phorcys mitts or Lncr. gloves +2(+26stp). Haste on both sets 25%.
Anyone think other wise?

Personally I think the 14STR/14DEX/14Att/14acc and 150 Wyvern Attack > 2% TA especially with OAT.

(AF3+2 Body&Brego vs Byrnie&Ogier Gauntlets) The ACC is a huge boon considering most endgame 99 mobs have a crapton of eva. Hell on Provenance mobs, a DRG with around 30-40ish acc gear, Gungnir99(40 acc) and stalwarts and aggressor only parsed 77% acc on Caturae. Arch Omega and Neo Odin also have very potent evasion. Acc is becoming important again it seems.

These sets net me at a 5 hit, just wondering if there is any room for improvement.

For TP, you can use phorcys salade, AF3+2 hands, and bullwhipe/phos belt and gain 3 str, 8 dex, 21 acc, and 4 DA for barely no haste. And with OAT you can get by with potestas for TP over hagneia, I don't know why you're truncating to whole number but you're getting 21.1 for TP and 16.5 for WS. With potestas you'd be at 20.7 x 4 + 16.5 and would be fine as long as you land 1/3 of the other hits for drakes. Also justiciar's torque for drakes over nefarious, and prosilio.

Any Advice?

All the polearm comparison could be purposefully given innuendo so your loopy sleep deprived mind can justify itself.

It's what I'd do in such a situation.

Sorry for the bump! Seeking 5-hit suggestions sans Neo~Nyzul at the moment. Below is more or less what I currently use. If /war usually swapping to Pole Grip since I'm nowhere near 5-hit at that point and I am saving up for a Hagenia Stone. Once I have Hagenia I could drop that gorget from Qilin in, but I feel that's a miss if I have Mala. Aces/Goading? Anything from last update I'm not thinking of? Completely forget trying for a 5-hit /sam without NNI gear and just do a solid 6-hit? Does it not matter that much with OAT? Thanks~

I threw together a set for you. Not claiming this is the best non NNI set or anything. I just threw it together, but it is a improvement over the posted set.




/sam 5 hit. Enough extra stp to only need to land the first hit of stardiver to maintain hit build(only 6stp on WS).

While neo-salvage gear was overall a disappointment for DRG, if you don't have NNI gear it's very good gear. The content is fairly easy. I've been dualboxing my runs(with 1 person helping enter zone.)

If you decide to go for this, get the ares legs +1 first. Since the head/hands have the same haste as your current pieces. It's just the legs keeping you from getting a 5 hit via goading.

So, key changes.
Ares' Flanchard +1.
Hagneia stone.
Goading belt.

Ares' head/hands+1 are improvements as well, but minor ones. Might be better once we know if ares set bonus is tiered.
