Hell sometimes the air just explodes for no discernable reason other than there hasn't been an explosion for awhile

A RL friend of mine just started playing Rift.. says its very very good... I might in all honesty start playing that, least enough to when FFXI does die, I have some standing within that game

Until FFXI becomes so stagnate I have absolutely nothing to do but stand around and watch my moogle spin I most likely won't think about another MMO. By the time they pull the plug on FFXI I hope to have moved past playing MMOs in general.

FFXI will only ever "end" if S-E goes bankrupt or is sold to another entity that phases it out of their business plan.

That said, if it does "end", I won't be starting any more MMO games.

I'll probably need to give up FFXI sometime in the next few years anyways. Once my kids reach school-age, I'm sure I'll want to be involved in their activities as a soccer coach, or baseball coach, or whatever they want to be involved in.

I'll be flummoxed by my inability to get past the log in screen and argue vociferously with my television until I fall asleep. Then my wife will warn the grandchilren "now don't bother grandpa, he is in one of his moods again" and I'll be all asleep in my recliner still clutching my controller with the log in screen music playing way too loud. The grandkids will change the channel and I'll wake up and bore them with old stories until grandma rescues them and feeds them cake and ice cream.
