And you thought I was serious. you think 8 was worse than 13!?
Gilgamesh.Minusseven said: you think 8 was worse than 13!? Haven't really played much of 13, but 13 initially seems like a mix of 10 and 12, both of which weren't as bad as 8 or 2. Aboslute worst Final Fantasy Game:
Final Fantasy VII Absolute Best Final Fantasy Game: Final Fantasy I /thread Worst: 14, serious answer.
Best: 11 and 9. my favorite personally is IV
X-2 is my least favorite Gilgamesh.Minusseven said: you think 8 was worse than 14!? What is wrong with 2? 2 is unique, which makes it interesting.

I'd say 8 and 13 are tied for my worst, while US 2, 3, and tactics are my favorites (in no particular order)

Great Ones: 7, 9, 10, 13 Decent: 5 Could have used more work: 8 Absolute Worst: 12 & 14 at its current stage. VI is without a doubt my favorite, but I do have a certain fondness for XIII *duck and cover*
Hated X-2 and XII. Not counting the MMO ones as main series, I'd say 2 is the worst and the best... eh, 7 had the nostalgia factor for me and was my first so I'm probably overrating it. I found 10's story compelling and emotional with incredible music so probably gonna have to say that one.
Didn't like 2 much because the difficulty was way too high, randomised stat growths suck, having to spam the living hell out of spells to get them levelled sucks too, and ugh. Just didn't enjoy that one. Asura.Dameshi said: What is wrong with 2? 2 is unique, which makes it interesting. Unique does not = GOOD. If you need another Example I'd point to the move "Vanilla Sky" I played the emulator translation of the JP version, so that's what I'm basing my opinions on. I have not played the revised PS version or others. Worst: 10, 10-2 (does that count?), 12, 13
Best: 4,6,9 <3~ Cerberus.Zandra said: Asura.Dameshi said: What is wrong with 2? 2 is unique, which makes it interesting. I played the emulator translation of the JP version, so that's what I'm basing my opinions on. I have not played the revised PS version or others. Offline

6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13... Favorite 12 7 6 10 13 9 8 Least 12 hit the nail on the head for what I was looking for in a game. A reasonable story, good soundtrack & combat that doesn't seem excessive. 7 & 6 are pretty close, both are classics that DEFINE the genre 10 had a great story, sure it had a bunch of cheese but it really did have a strong backbone. 13... I want to like it. I really do like some of the changes but some felt like a step back (maximum limits on "levels") 9... was little more than a pop-up book game. It had some good traits but it didn't leave me endeared. 8... I just didn't get along with it. It's a good game just not for me. There was a similar thread to this a while back. Some other people's answers can be found here.
:/
I liked every FF I ever played (7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14), they captured me in a different way. The only one I didn't like was 8, but I am willing to give it another chance if I could find a hassle-free .ISO version for modded PSP. And I need to play 1-6. Leviathan.Zephriel said: VI is without a doubt my favorite, but I do have a certain fondness for XIII *duck and cover* I liked 13, the pacing was interesting for an FF game. Lightning, Fang and Sazh were awesome characters imo. Leviathan.Quetzacoatl said: I liked 13, the pacing was interesting for an FF game. Lightning, Fang and Sazh were awesome characters imo. I actually wasn't too crazy about the gameplay. It's the story that drew me in. 7 and 9 are the best I've played to, 13 is the least fun I've played.
what I liked in FF7 in the obscur side, and It's also my first RPG. FF9 has great graphic (for a PS1 game, think about it), music, side quests ... FF13 has no side quest, it's a corridor in HD except when you go in the big area with giant adamantamiles, where you have about ~20H of fun (100H total) visiting, doing a few missions. I see you had to say within the main series... cause otherwise Mystic quest would win hands down for worst lol

I dunno, I found FF:T was good but not the messiah everyone claims it is. It is unbalanced in terms of difficulty and the gulf between classes is ridiculous (Ninja is REALLY overpowered compared to most other jobs early on for instance) to the point where it simply becomes a matter of getting the right jobs or else.
Storyline was amazing for the first half, and didn't like it much for the latter half. Script in the PSP version is amazing though. Best is 9,10 and 12, worst is 13, I really hated that pussy player Hope.
