Fine, I get it.

You will never be important enough to actually separate your entire family life and immerse yourself in work 24/7 like the PotUS should do. Didn't stop Obama from doing so, but then again, he wasn't a great leader either.

Either way, you are demanding total separation, which you never stated one word of it for Obama, or even hinted at it when Clinton was running. Nope, it has to be Trump, and only Trump, that should do it.

Got it!
Actually it's something expected of all people elected to the office...

The answer is that he hands his company over to someone unrelated.

It is simply a conflict of interest. No one is saying to break his family ties, they are saying he needs to keep his conflicts of interest in check.

Fine. You amass billions of dollars in equity and then not give them over to your children.

That's not how the world works, but that's what you, Flavin, and Ramyrez are demanding. Which, frankly, is something that none of you will ever do because none of you will ever get into that position to do.

Newsflash: Parents almost always leave their wealth behind for their children. Why else would the federal government tax such events?

That's great, but are the parents becoming the POTUS and are they leaving operational businesses in the hands of their children?

If you all are so freaking concerned about conflicts of interest, you have about a bajillion donors, lobbyists, and special interest groups with ties to politicians around the country that you should be plowing through before you ever get to Trump and his family business.

Can we not be concerned about all of the conflicts of interests? I also feel like the POTUS should be more of a focus than all the politicians and lobbyists.

Let's be real, here. Trump isn't a politician that became a bigger politician. He's a businessman that became president, and his business is strongly tied to his family. It's not like he can shut off his presidency whenever he's around his kids. There will never be a 100% removal of conflicts of interest because practically any interaction with his kids or any legislation that gets passed that affects his business in any way could be viewed as such. It's a field of gray, but it all comes down to that beautiful (and awful) word: "intent".

And here we come back to my problem with him as a person.

His intent has ever and always been Trump, Trump, and Trump, everyone else be damned.

So you're saying I should also be bitching about lobbyists and corporate money in the rest of our government?

Have I not done that?

I'm almost positive I'm on record in these P&R threads going back several years stating that anyone in public office should have to immediately and completely cash out and separate themselves from any and all private businesses.

I am against lobbying. I am against pork barrel tactics. I am against riders on bills that have nothing to do with main bills*. I am against money in politics. I am against Citizens United.

I could go on, but you get the point.

Yes, and they've been under investigation for it. TRUMP HASN'T DONE ANYTHING YET. When he actually does something that is a clear conflict of interest, we'll talk.

It's not even what's being asked... you put it into a blind trust until he's out of office... Jesus Christ man... it's what's asked of every *** president... every one... it would have no effect on leaving wealth behind for his children...

At the very least his kids should have nothing to do with his work in the whitehouse...

Fine. That's your opinion and you are welcome to it.

However, anyone in the executive branch has to fill out a specific form regarding such possible conflicts, and it is published for the world to see.

It is not illegal, nor immoral, nor unethical, to hold equity while in office. It is illegal and unethical to use your influence in office to better your ownership in a company. So sayth the regs.

The fat "feminists," (not to be confused with the functional, necessary movement feminism used to be) are easily the worst though.

So be careful not to fat shame them by existing at a normal BMI.

I use the term on rare occasions. But since you make caricatures out of everyone you wouldn't be able to see that. I guess when you almost can't make a post without finding a way to insult someone, you gotta scrape the bottom of that barrel. Btw, how about all those supposed occasions where I've used the word "triggered" sooooooo much? Any luck in finding those, or can I just assume you never have a clue what you're talking about?

You said wait until he does something, but he's already had that Carrier smoke and mirrors deal lauded up and down by some people.

As for conflicts of interest, see the link I made about his daughter meeting with the Japanese with him.

Eh, in context I was referring to his business. But Carrier in general? Sure, that's fair game. It's a thing, it happened. And I haven't checked the link yet, I'll do that....
