"One hit wonder" games you wish spawned a series

Though Matsuno isn't with SE anymore and they still hold the IP's of Tactics and Vagrant Story so you aren't likely to see that. It's incredibly frustrating that the end of Vagrant story was so open to some amazing possibilities... I'm sad I'll probably never see it concluded. And Tetsuya Takahashi of the Xenogears fame split off to make Monolith. Which is why you have Xenosaga and Xenoblade but no Xenogears since that IP is also with SE. At least that's my rough understanding of the situation. Speaking of games by Monolith (a different one though)...

The PS1 version is pretty hard to find now but thankfully there is a vita downloadable version! I still own this game for the PS. I liked the game but didn't like the leveling system. Limited fixed battles made it where your better off leveling your MC the most. Sadira is a beast and some of her quotes in battle made me lol. You're taking me from behind. One of the most fun Sega Genesis games out there. It's game play was simple, a run around 2D shoot em up game. It was great, that Gunstar Super Heroes remake wasn't as good unfortunately. That and it was a remake, not a sequel. I would agree with Skies of Arcadia though. Quetzalcoatl.Spiriel said: » One of the most fun Sega Genesis games out there. Game companies use the term "spiritual successor" to describe a game as an unofficial sequel since they more often than not carry on popular game mechanics and elements from the old one into the new one. To this day, I'm still sore this one never made it to the US. Working Design tends to put cheesy dialogue in their translation. While some people didn't like that I don't mind it. The best thing about them is how they package the games. Fantastic artwork on CD and lots of extra things that comes with most of their games. My favorite game genre is SRPG so any sequel made for a SRPG game is a good thing. When I first played Fire Emblem. Weapons breaking annoyed the hell of out me but I got used to it eventually. I like Tear Ring Saga which is pretty much a Fire Emblem game. FE Path of Radiance is probably my favorite out of the all the FE games I have played. Shining Force series is excellent. If you haven't played Shining Force III should check it out. With the translation patches the game is fully playable in English. I have played through all 3 scenario and the premium disc using the Sega Saturn Emulator SSF. They finished scenario 1 translation. 2 and 3 are playable in English but they are working to polish up scenario 2 atm. If only games where this good now, snes greatest machine ever. Or maybe we just got old, an games are a let down now lol. Nice to see I'm not the only one who loved zombies eat my neighbors

As well as... http://www.gamefaqs.com/arcade/584020-battletoads/data Odin.Godofgods said: » That snes game actually had its own massive cannon gun, Long before wii was thought of, that you had to use to play the game with instead of a controller. tho after looking it up, it actually was a two part game. Battle Clash followed by Metal Combat. Tho iv never seen battle clash before. Legend of Dragoon
Brave Fencer Musashi(Musashi Samurai Legend doesn't count) Shadow of the Colossus tbh, I'd love a sequel of Lost odyssey:
Quetzalcoatl.Wulfie

Mother 3
Crono Cross Super Mario RPG Billy Hatcher Final Fantasy XI Final Fantasy IX Loco Roco 2 Xenogears Gotcha Force Super Mario Sunshine Golden Sun Dark Dawn(Back to sprites though) All deserve direct sequels. Asura.Vyre said: » Not a sequel but Mystic Ark is very similar. Astyanax (NES)
Poor hit detection, but other than that I loved the ***out of it. Cinematics similar to Ninja Gaiden trilogy. The Guardian Legend (NES) Zelda, Zanac, and awesome music in an incredible package. Crystalis (NES) One of SNK's really great titles. Faxanadu (NES) A lot of people hate this one, but I liked it. Clash at Demonhead (NES) The amount of gadgets and corny dialogue made it worth playing alone. 7th Saga (SNES) Buggered up English release being harder than the original, but other than that was a really fun RPG. Terranigma (SNES) This one's technically the last in a trilogy, but it's just different enough from the others that I wish more had followed in this vein. Sleeping dogs was the first one that popped into my head. Was slow to start with but once the story got to a certain point it was amazing.
