I haven't seen much on the optimal gear sets nowadays but i figured we could get a thread going to constantly discuss gear sets for new people coming back to the game/etc.

Please use gear sets that are best OUTSIDE of Abyssea.

It is up to us on how much in depth we want to go with it. You can have links to gear sets or just discuss the most important stats/skills for each type of situation.

I feel as if SCH can be extremely powerful nowadays with the amount of damage/utility they can do. I also feel that it is getting back to its glory days and starting to become an important job again. I don't know about you guys, but SCH was one of the most useful jobs for Nyzul Isle back in the day.

Let's keep these SCH forums up to date!

Fast cast gives further haste, so don't ignore that in your haste set. Anhur robe should give more haste than goliard for example.

Most times (unless you're capped), haste will out-perform Fast Cast. This is because haste and fastcast don't stack and modify the timer separately. Also the game always calculates the Hast/Slow part before it applies Fast Cast. Because of this, your 10%/5% bonus for Anhur Robe is slightly less potent than the 4% haste from Goliard.

To put it another way, if the recast is 100 seconds, and you have 21% in other haste....

Goliard makes the recast 100*(1-.25(Haste total))*(1-0(Fast Cast total)) = 75 seconds

Anhur Robe makes the recast 100*(1-.21(Haste total))*(1-.05(Fast Cast total)) = 75.05 seconds

Ignore the anhur robe thing unless you can cap haste via other means then I suppose, the more you know! Add in additional fast cast gear in free slots either way. For a stun set on harder things, you will want weapon slot free for a juptier's/macc magian staff, but you can add in the haste grip.

I adjusted my precast. I figured to steer clear of Witful belt cause if the quickening proccs it wont get my midcast gear equpped in enough time.

Not really. The following items would be upgrades with best descending to your suggested "Best" set with weather/day/klima/ebull:

Neck:
saevus pendant
stoicheion medal

Hands:
Nares cuffs
tethyan cuffs +3
tethyan cuffs +2
vicious mufflers
savant's bracers +2

Legs:
rubeus spats
teal slops
galvanic slops
cybele pants
argute pants +2

How are galvanic better? yes it's a slight int boost from AF2+2 pants, but the ele skill should really help with resists, no?

With weather/day/klimaform? What is resisting you that badly?

And the set was not labelled best for resisty mobs, it was labelled "best" which it is not, and is also misleading. I presented better damaging options.

If you have any head about you at all you are saving spaces wherever you can, there is no need to carry around Cybele pants AND Argute Pants +2. Relic +2 is far more flexible and will serve you in more situations especially with the augement for your 2hr.

Sto medal is what you want to use because you'll use it when you don't have Kli/weather up as well. You would be foolish to carry both.

The Hands are useful for their strat enhancement, Although If you are lucky enough to gear your hands on the new Nyzul hands that would justify carrying both.

But lets be realistic here...

Well, then don't label it "best" if it is really a "decent if concerned about inventory" set.

It is the best, carrying around a "nuking stuff I wont ever resist on" set and a "best" set isn't practical.

Nuking is more than just E-peen and big numbers yo, and best means more than biggest numbers. If you play sch at all, you are aware of the value of every inventory space.

Yeah, some people refuse to admit it, but they are really good pants.

And apparently unreasonable to obtain.

True, I forgot about those. With a perfect augment of Int+3 and MAB+2 they would be the best nuking legs for SCH in terms of raw damage.

lol, I think you mean "retain". They may give you bigger numbers, but +20 dmg to your final equation (when you're nuking for over 3400 that's less than 1%) hardly qualifies it to hold the extra inventory space.
