Random Question thread (FFXI related)
Anyone else having issues with FFXI SwitchMon not recognizing running instances of FFXI?
Uhm, who and where is that npc that exchanges unwanted Adoulin gear? I remember reading about it but can't find the exact info atm.
Does the auto-translate "Garpike" have any other meaning in JP? I was in a JP party and they used it a few times.

Japanese for "Garpike" item is "ガー" (see: http://jp.ffxiah.com/item/5472/%E3%82%AC) which sounds like "ga(a)", afaik, as in "gum" but you stretch the "a" sound. Maybe they were telling someone to use -ga spells? If you're running the installer with the game already installed, it may be jumping into the uninstall process instead.
The installer does let you choose the path to install to. I've almost never had it installed on the system drive, and shifted the install on my main PC to another drive a few weeks ago. But, as I mentioned, the first time I ran it, it dove into uninstalling - I prevented it from actually deleting the folder contents by renaming it. The easy thing to do is really to just do that uninstall, and then install the game where you want it. Once it's done, copy your updated folder (and macros, etc) over top of it. It'll do a file check, but should work fine after that. It's more than just the registry entries to move it. There's also a bunch of .dlls that get registered. It should be possible to move the install then register it for the new location, but the instructions out there didn't work for me either. Personally though, I'd favor leaving an MMO on an SSD. The somewhat random nature of what data the game needs tends to favor it, versus more linear single player games. So I just logged on first time in year+
What happened to my baby?!? Click - to change page.

Josiah you troll
So really, what do I do to fix this....
Your weapon hasn't changed. The stats were just reorganized to make room for the stat vomit that's on all item level gear.
Bismarck.Rinomaru said: » Where on manu? it'll fix my katana to what it was? It is what it always was, the augments are just on a second page of the item description, push the menu button while examining it. On new gear, if it has a small white triangle in the lower right corner of the item box, it has a second page showing any augments that item has. To see it, highlight the item in question, and hit the button you hit to bring up the in game menus. The - button on the keypad, and I think Square button on PS controllers and X button on XBox style. Doing this should show you the second page, and any augments you have.
oh, pfft that is horrible!
Damn this bites :< Welcome home, Rino. Bismarck missed you.
I have nothing to contribute having a 99 Kannagi while I can buy a katana with double the damage on the AH.....
lulz I have 7 katana with the same name, now i must check them all...
and the upgrade to 119 is... doable easily?
(he asked knowing doubtfully) Bismarck.Rinomaru said: » and the upgrade to 119 is... doable easily? (he asked knowing doubtfully) ToM weapons are done at 99, the only exception being RME's. Your katana will get as much use this year as it did the last year. I'm on BG wiki and looking at reforeged AF and what not, jeezus christ.
