Best/Worst Final Fantasy games within the main ser
Ya I didn't even give X-2 a mention. Its aweful. I did finish it, but thats because Pain is such eyecandy.
I didn't find X-2 that bad, the gameplay was pretty fun with the jobs even though it kinda became auto attack till win towards the end.
best FFVIII- i thought the story was great, along with the characters, and the world was a lot of fun to explore.
Worst FFXIII VGcats-subtlety Cerberus.Zandra said: Gilgamesh.Minusseven said: you think 8 was worse than 13!? You know nothing. That VGCats thing was dumb. A lot of 13 specifically spent time developing the characters, which is more than can be said of certain FFs...
Corridor complaint legitimate, everything else was unfounded. Didn't really like the battle system in 13 much...
I find that alot of players automatically hate 13 from the off because it's a different from what they are used to.

Worst: FF13 wait, what? Ramuh.Sagittario said: I find that alot of players automatically hate 13 from the off because it's a different from what they are used to. I mean, I'm far from a Final Fantasy fanatic (XI fanatic, yes, but not for all of them). When I think of XIII, the first thing I think about is always the first bit I played. For 2 painstaking hours, I sat there with absolutely no idea of what was going on. The characters were talking, but it was all gibberish. It was later on that I found out that you had to actually read the prologue on the instruction manual, and then keep up-to-date with the story by reading the glossary in-game. THIS IS NOT GOOD STORYTELLING. The characters are all right. They're probably the best thing in the game. They all undergo a lot of character development throughout the story, and that's fine. Though Snow and Hope are two characters I really just can't stand. The majority of the game can be simply beaten by mashing the "X" button for auto-attack. It's only in boss fights that you have to spend extra time with your paradigm shifts and maybe a little bit of micro-managing because the auto-attack isn't smart enough to figure that kind of stuff out. It's not fun, the story is awful and horribly told, it's so linear. Admittedly I don't even like the music in the game. NOTHING in it appeals to me. Leviathan.Draylo said: I don't hate 13, its my personal opinion. How does not liking the battle system = cause its different than what I'm used to? I'm not judging you bro if you don't like it you don't like it. But I mean did you still dislike the battle system at the end of the game, for me I was in your shoes I thought it was the most awful thing I'd seen until I got about midway through disk 1 and the battle system began to open up an then I began to love it, tests your reflexes and forces you to think fast and adapt to the situation. What I meant was that I know some people (idiots) who have refused outright to play through the game simply because its not the typical turn based battle system they expect from a FF game. Only beaten those 3 games..... that's like turning up to a cheesecake buffet and deciding you will eat the pile of dog ***on the street outside >_> Gonna stick up for 13 an fight my corner cos nobody else does :p not sure what you mean about bashing the X button, the number of times I got my *** kicked because I thought I could crash my way through the random battles was embarrassing, it's essential to use paradigms for I'd say at least 25% of the random battles, unless you know something I don't, damn try taking out something like a cieth or a humbaba with that tactic... Totally agree with you about the start of the game not having a clue what was going on took a good 10 hours before I became comfortable with where I was relative to what was going on and who all these random names belonged to, but tbh though the story was very deep ad cleverly done, the twist was one of the most enjoyable I've experienced in a game ^^ Maybe I'm just not a Final Fantasy person. I know at least a couple other people who say they enjoy it.
Me, I'll just keep sticking to my horribly unbalanced yet amazing Final Fantasy Tactics, and my stupendously awesome Red Alert 3 and Assassin's Creed 2. ^^ Caitsith.Jessie said: Maybe I'm just not a Final Fantasy person. 10, 11, 12 are my favorites
I absolutely loved the real-time combat in 12, I don't understand all of the hate it gets. I watched some friends playing 13, didn't like it. 6 was pretty great, but I never finished it. I did not like 13 as well because it never seemed to capture me with the characters or the story. Vanille always sounded like she was having an orgasm or something and at one point my wife ran into the room because she thought I was watching porn ( she thought she was gonna bust me). It seemed so straight forward up until chapter 11 and I don't think throughout the game I ever lost a battle ... until I started on those big turtles though, but even then, once I got the hang of how to kill them it was easy. All in all it just seemed meh to me, but the completionist in me still went through and got all the achievements ... even if it was a tedious task of mindless turtle slaughtering.
I have a place in my heart for 9, i didn't like 12 because vaan was a douche.

Best = Final Fantasy VI -
Best story, musical score, and characters of the whole series. It had it all and then some. Newer FF games are too hung up on pretty CG and crappy voiceovers. SE needs to get back to the basics and make good game before they focus on how pretty it is to look at... **cough XIII **cough** XIV cough** Worst = Final Fantasy VIII - Lackluster story (I never finished it, it was that bad), Lame characters (I wanted so much to run Squall off a cliff), completely forgettable game music... And Gun-blades. Gun-blades are ***ing stupid. KappoRDM said: Best = Final Fantasy VI - Best story, musical score, and characters of the whole series. It had it all and then some. He is on the money about VI. i completely agree best = 6 , worst = 8 8 was such ***, i hated the junction system. i would always try to manually rejunction after every fight or everytime i learned something new. taking what should normally be a 1-2hr lvl grind into 3-4hrs just for 1-2 levels, making it plain HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE. ontop of the the story was meh. i have to say tho, is it just me or has the storyline behind the recent FF's been kinda lackluster? 12? 13? like i felt almost no connection to the story characters at all. needs moar sequals or remakes. a remake of 6,7,9 for ps3 with more characters and more dungeons would be pretty epic. Getting into a heated debate over this is ridiculous and you guys just set yourself up for trolling. Bahamut.Serj said: Fenrir.Weewoo said: Best 6 Worst 10 /IMO I have to agree with alot of the negative comments about 8, thoe story lacking real depth, not much character development, and the junction system was questionable, it could make the game extremely easy. But I still love it an not sure why, maybe it was the card game >_> *** love triple triad lol, an the game jus had a nice atmosphere about it. |
